What is your default flight?

SOH-CM-2024
I believe that one of the first things to be altered, after a fresh install of any version of flight simulator is the default flight. Whilst doing a reinstall, recently, I began to wonder what people have as their default FSX flight. I know that these flights tend to alter over time, especially after a new scenery package is added to the mix.

Personally, I'm currently flying Shockwave's P-40 out of Dillingham X (with megascenery Hawaii). What are you folks currently using, aircraft and scenery wise?

For my default flight I use the stock Cessna out of my nearest city airport which I have reworked extensively so that it matches the real thing. I basically use it when I hit problems with engines dying on some aircraft due to fuel cock or tank issues after changing planes. I load the default flight, get the engine running and then switch to the aircraft I want to fly.

My current default flight is the Classics Hangar FW190 A-2 from Valkenburg, Netherlands (EHVB), which is where I live.

Cheers,
Huub

I always load new aircraft into a default FS Cessna cold-n-dark situation at my home airport - KBLI - in WA. I then adjust views, Popup windows, fuel, payload, nav settings, etc. and save the situation as "KBLI - (aircraft). This enables me to go directly to that flight and know that it is a situation without problems. It also allows me to see, on the menu, all the arcraft that I have installed, as I have accumulated over 250 over the years. With that 'clean' flight, I can safely slew to any airport for my flight that day. This is also where I do all of my initial testing of aircraft to determine flight characteristics and practice various weather situationj

I don't have a default flight as such, but saved faves include:
* Flight Replicas J3, JF 152 and Piglet's Mooney Mite and AA-5 from Compton Abbas EGHA in Dorset
* A2A Spitfire 1/WOP2 Mustang/AFCorsair; Classic Hangars 190, RealFlight F6F, SU AT6 and the new Dave Garwood Hunter, all from from Duxford EGSU

I haven't altered the default default flight since I ran into problems doing that once long ago. I think I deleted the plane that I had chosen as my default plane for the default flight. I forgot that it was being used as the defaault flight, and FS "freaked out". And at the time I think it wasn't clear to me what had gone wrong. FS just wasn't loading anymore. In any case, I quit messing around with the default flight from that point on. However, like SpaceWeevil, I have a lot of saved flights that accomplish the same purpose, and allow more flexibility.

Corenado 152 out of O22, modified Columbia Ca. Great place to fly out of, bayarea west and Tahoe east!!!

A savy simmer will leave the "stock default flight" alone, doing no more than moving it to one's favorite home airport at most.

Many, many addons pay or free simply won't load and work properly otherwise.

The technical reason is that there's additional data saved with a "default flight" than there is a "regularlly saved flight." It's those additional bits of data that can make the difference between success and problems with some addons. :ernae:

DBD L-159B out of KHIF - with scads of environment addons so that the whole of Utah is as close to photo-real as it can get without actually being so...

Whatever plane I'm working on, usually flying out of Edward's. I need that huge lake bed with my flying "skills"! All my flight titles have the word "Testing" somewhere in the title.:jump:
Trans, the Coast Guard should buy some of those Tucanos!

My favourite default flight is to take off from where I landed last time I used the sim.
I've been doing that since I had FS98.
I hate to say this in an FSX forum, but since FSX does not have this function, I would have to manually save the flight each time I close down FSX, which is a really needless pain. That is one of the reasons why I still prefer to do most of my flying in FS9, which saves the last flight automatically, like all self-respecting flightsims before that.
Sorry...
