Whenever I visit the Travis AFB museum, I see many wonderful planes there, from Century fighters, GA/Scouts, transports, and so on. The plane I spend the most time next to and touching is the C-47. For many reasons it has a place in my heart. For one it is partially responsible for be being alive today. It was the plane my grandfather flew. It was strongly built that it survived the rigors they flew through and allowed my grandfather to have a good life and family after.

It is a beautiful airplane, it is rugged, it can haul cargo, people, anything you can fit in it. It can get to places many planes can't. And after all these years it is still one of the best airplanes around doing the kind of flying it does. It is built to last. It is timeless.

When I am at a grandfather's age, I bet there will still be DC-3s and C-47s flying around, on the clock, hauling loads...not fragile museum showpeice birds. So yeah I am with Heywooood on this one.

This picture sums up the Gooneybird :)

Imagine how many types of flight simmers would buy a quality Gooneybird? Golden Age buffs, Tubliner fans, VA clubs, Warbird nuts, Cargo Haulers and probably a few more genres. It is a plane that has somthing for everybody to enjoy :)
