What I've been up to today

Hi all,

I've attached an image of what I've been working on lately :)

It's my first model so be as critical as possible. I'm using the 3DSMax P-47 tutorial as a starting point, then I'll animate it in the older version of 3DSMax I've got around here for FSX compatibility.

Thanks,

Chris

Which "new" version of Max are you using? If it is 2012 (or indeed v7 through 2012) I'd advise installing the P3D SDK, as this will ensure FSX compatibility. Therefore you'll have no need to switch back-and-forth between versions.

I use 2012 simply because my license includes it and the P3D SDK is compatible.TTBOMK I'm not missing anything in 2013.

I'm using 2013 but I've got 3DS9 around here too

Two things about the P3D sdk - it won't work with Max 2013 (not yet anyway) and a model with more than around 40K textured polys won't export successfully (again, not yet...).

When you're ready to export anything to FSX, you'll find Max 9 won't read your Max 2012 .max files: older versions of Max won't read newer versions' files although newer versions of Max will read .max files from older versions. :isadizzy:

To get around this you'll need the FBX plugins from Autodesk for both your versions of Max. FBX is Autodesk's file format for transferring files between different Max versions, as well as Maya etc.
