• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

What Memorial Day means.

Service, duty, honor, courage and sacrifice are words that come to mind when we stop to reflect on why America celebrates the Memorial Day holiday. Since its beginning, Memorial Day has been an opportunity to pause and reflect on the sacrifices of our country’s fallen heroes – more than one million service members – who have made the ultimate sacrifice to secure our freedoms.
Today, we have a new generation of heroes to honor, with more than two million service members having deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan since September 11, 2001. Sorrowfully, thousands of U.S. service members have died in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

May our Fallen rest in peace.

I spoke to my church's pastor yesterday before the service began, because last year on Memorial Day's service, he asked that all of the vets in the congregation stand to be thanked for our service. I, and many others, were embarrassed. Memorial Day is just that..."Memorial".... to remember those who sacrificed their lives; NOT to thank the living.

Pastor thanked me for the reminder. NC

I can't imagine any other image that could capture what Memorial Day is really about.
Thanks for posting this.
