I have been out of the FS loop for the last 4 months & need to know whats the latest & greatest?

I just got a new desktop so I can start flying FSX again & need to fill it up great add-ons :)

What do ya'll recommend? Also what looks good but I should steer clear of?

Much obliged!

RealAir Spit, RealFlight F6F Hellcat, A2A B377 P-40 B-17, Flight Replica's L-4 and Me-262, Aerosofts F-16 and Twin Otter, CS C-130, RAZBAM A-6 and EA-6.......to name a few!

Putz's ;) :costumes:

Ive tried to cut down on my drinking... Now I only do it when I am by myself or with someone :friday:

More beer! :ernae: :costumes:

LOLOLOL...... :costumes:

Too funny man. What brand to you recommend Panther?

<-- reminds me.. I found some Lowenbrau at a fancy grocery store the other day. Almost fell over. Had to buy a six pack. Havent seen that in ages.....

That new freeware Pitts biplane is really nice. Fun bird to fly. Carenado has some FSX planes now also. (If you are into General Aviation birds).

Partial to Lowenbrau myself, haven't seen it for ages either. Did you check the expiry dates, lol.

Flight beers are an intrinsic, if not esential part of flight simming. Best addon I've ever bought. Now I've got a hankering for a brew, thanks, off to the fridge I go.:ernae:

Hard to beat a good crystal weisen!

Ok Aerosoft & Nemeth got my money today. The F-16, H-1 & BO105 are humming along nicely.

What to get next :mixedsmi:

Insofar as what I like, my 1st loves are helos & vintage aircraft be they warbird or GA. After that, anything that flies :wiggle:

Could be anything that gives good FPS and doesn't require online registration. :ernae:

If so, remember to save some money for the upcoming P47 with Accusim from A2A. It's entering beta stage so shouldn't take long.

I highly recommend Real Environment Xtreme! :ernae:
Clouds look terrific, FSX may not be the best game engine but it definatley is highly optimized when it comes to high resolution textures. Absolutely no difference in performance between 1024x1024 and 4096x4096 HD textures on my 9800GTX+

Get Piglets new Meyers 200, it's free, which means more beer money...:ernae:

Since you like helos you could go outside FSX and get the standalone sim DCS BlackShark.I've had it a couple weeks and I can almost start the heli without using the quick start cheat.Once started I'm able to takeoff and sometimes land without crashing.I have found that a [linestrike]little[/linestrike] lot of preflight vodka makes for a more stable flight. :friday: I figure in a couple more weeks I'll be able to turn on the weapons systems. All kidding aside this is one intense and well done sim.The pilots manual is almost 400 pages and the keyboard reference is 9 pages. :isadizzy:

So this is a standalone now ? I though it was going to be flyable in LockOn

I would highly recommend FS Global 2008. And if you like your vintage bomber or fighters Shockwave's Wings of Power. And Shockwaves 3D Lights

It is standalone, although graphics engine is almost the same as in Lock On. But main menu, mission editor and campaign system is very different. DCS is advertised as a new simulation platform while Black Shark is its first module. New aircraft (modules) should be released in less than one year intervals, the next two should be A-10C and Ah-64. It will be also open for third party developers, but on a more restrictive terms than Flight Simulator.

There's much more info on their forum:

and on SimHQ I've seen some interviews with developers.
