I had to post this and I'm not sure how to explain it, other than just scratch my head and keep on truckin'.
Some of you may remember the updated VC textures that I did for the FSD T-38 Talon. Probably my best work as all the gauges and avionics faces were done from scratch, it took quite a bit of work to complete it but I was very proud of the finished product. I posted the file for download and to date, over 70 downloads.

Here's the kicker, I loaded the wrong sets (one each 2048x2048 and 1024x1024). The textures I uploaded were saved as 24bit textures, what basically gives you a totally blank VC, all black. In the readme I stated, "If you have any problems let me know. . .ejwells409@cableone.net". Until yesterday, when "Bone" PM'd me, I had not heard from anyone, lol.

Sooooooo, did they all have DXTbmp and just convert the textures accordingly, or did they simply dump it as a lost cause without reading the readme and asking for help? lol. . .amazing!!

Good morning Falcon.
......What a scenario. You're right. Unbelievable that the subject didn't come up concerning this.

I remember about your textures, but since I'm not using the FSD Talon, I didn't download them.
Is the error only happening in FSX, or would it happen in FS9 as well ? I imagine there aren't so many people flying the T-38 in FSX...
Personnaly, and even though it's not exactely the same plane, I prefer the F-5 from Piglet, which is native FSX and has a much better VC than the FSD T-38.

I didn't download, since I don't have the FSD T-38 Talon, but I do know that when I have hit a snag in the past that I just fix it. I even do this for payware. For instance ORBX PNW has the wrong elevation for Shawnigan Lake Water Aerodrome (CAV8). I didn't complain to them about it, I just fixed it.

On the other hand I find it hard to believe that all the people who downloaded from you fixed the problem themselves! So consequently, I am wondering myself what those people did!

I made them specific to FSX only because of the texture sizes which FS9 doesn't accept, but irregardless, 24bit would give the same results in FS9. . .basically a solid black VC.:salute:

People mystify me sometimes, lol. I guess if I hadn't spent most of my college career studying Psychology and how and why people are motivated to do certain things it wouldn't be such a big deal to me. I guess it's better for me to simply accept the fact that people don't really need a reason, they simply do what they do. . . . .because. . . .lol!

If I can catch the dev on a forum somewhere, I'll tell him/her there.
But e-mail? Nah. I'm usually too lazy to do that and just delete the add-on if it doesn't work. There's more toys out there.

Ed, I was recently meeting with a client of mine who does retail sales online, and the subject of product returns came up. They quoted a figure to me that something like 2-5% of customers who are dissatisfied with a product will actually return it. The rest just grumble and move on, maybe not using that vendor again, but maybe so. Long story short, it's a product of our times. I guess it's no big shock that the same rules applies even more to free downloads.

heheheeh, right, just keep rowing man, remember that once we hit 62 we are on free fall and anything can happen anytime....:gameoff::gameoff::pop4::pop4:
