• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

What's Happening: Merged Threads

I'm a little confused. What happened? I don't visit any of the other forums that much so this came as a bolt out of the blue. Maybe I am not too bright, but I have not seen that much disrespect shown to others in this forum. Yes, I have seen occasions where some have been a little carried away, but I thought Jadg was on the ball and shut them down appropriately. Sometimes someone might unwittingly touch on a subject that someone else feels passioately about. That happens in families. A lot of you know the proplems with my wife's health that we have had to face. I believe all the prayers and positive thoughts we got from around the world saved her life. I know it meant a hellofalot to me. Are there problems behind the scene we don't know about? I can understand if the administrators are tired of running it. We all get burned out sometimes. All they get is our appreciation and sometimes not much of that. That and the satisfaction of a job well done. As for the discussion about the BS symbol. Look around, watch the cable news and try and put it into perspective. I said in a post awhile back that we are living in the "golden age" of cfs2, that's true and shutting down this site will end that. You all know none of the others could begin to touch it. Surely there is some other option.

I can only imagine why. However, I said my thanks, and extended an offer to help. If anyone needs me to step up and take a larger role, I'm happy to help in any way that I can.

CFS2's future may hang in the balance, folks. I can't think of another place where we could keep CFS2 going as effectively as we do here.

What's happening?????

I'm not sure what the root cause is (actually I do, but just discussing it will cause trouble) , but tempers have been flaring here on the forums (and not just the CFS2 forum either) recently. I've been one of them, but we recent by-pass patients are known to be right cranky and totally frank.

At any rate, there are lots of toes being stepped-on and people are getting offended. This is threatening the existence of SOH (ref Ickie's recent announcement) , so I have a simple suggestion. It is that if we haven't got something positive or constructive to say, that we hold our tongues....or in this case, our keyboards in check.

I've never seen tempers flar here on the CFS2 forum. I see that Poop has hit the fan in the other fourms today. I don't know what was said and done but it's bad for us all now. :-(
 
I don't think....

....that any of us who have not been a server or network admin have any idea of the workload involved. I've been there and I want to tell you it is a never-ending and intensely demanding job......and largely it is a thankless one.

Someone makes one too many thoughtless remark and it becomes the straw that broke the camel's back.

The guys that run SOH do it as a labor of love and deserve a little appreciation.

Actually we all need to show each other a little more appreciation. Happy New Year.
 
You guys are all paragons of maturity and civility and I appreciate your attitudes during the good and the bad. Can't think of a better place to hang out other than here in the basement with you guys. Hopefully the tempest will pass over us and soon be gone.
 
WTF???????!!!!!!!! Again, a troll who can't resist aggravating someone will ruin it for the rest of us. Same happened at WOV! Ickie, I beleive you are doing a thankless task and I for one THANK YOU!!!!! As for the ones with all the comments either make your comments public with your identification and stand behind your accusations (whatever they are) or go play another game more of your ilk like Tomb Raiders.
 
Update as of Tuesday at 9:00 PM PST or for you military types, 310400ZDec08:

Ickie has decided to stay on as the server manager and we will run our band width donation drive a month or so into the New Year in order to keep the doors open.

Save a few bucks now and put them to good use during the drive. In the meantime, it's business as usual in the basement.

It takes no time for sh-t to go side ways around here, I leave for a day and come back to the possible demise of my favorite haunt.
I want to say that I've got the utmost appreciation for you guys pulling the levers behind the scenes around here and I dont have a clue as to what goes into keeping the site going but I'm starting to get an inkling that it must be a huge effort. And I dont really get what started it all..over the Bovine taken a crap? jeez I see that everday at work, so that couldnt really be the issue..could it?
Whatever started it, if it's affecting Ickies health or anyone elses for that matter then let it all go it's not worth anybody taking a dirt nap over.
But I do admit I would certainly hope for a continued SOH solution.

Also I was happy to see it wasnt coming from our crew, we CFSers are a pretty mellow bunch, gettin our aggressions out in sim and all vs in forum.
 
I'm one of the oldies in here,I've been here for over 7 years.I'd hate to see it all end.I saw what happened to Netwings many years ago and many people picked up and left.At the time both Netwings and SOH were the sites to go to for CFS2 but the Netwings CFS2 forum was used more.Fortunately most of the people came here so the knowledge base was still around.I remember Jadg,Pen32Win,Crashaz and Sarg Willie from the old CFS2 online(Netwings) days.There are more here from than I just can't remember their names.

When I think of all the friends I've made from ALL AROUND THE WORLD, I'm beyond amazed. I can throw out a call for a lifeline or where to find something and look back in a few minutes, hours or the following day and see that I've got responses from a dozen locations in the US ... from Canada ... from France ... from the UK ... from the Netherlands ... from Switzerland ... from Spain ...from South America ... from Austrailia .

This is the greatest, most interesting pub in the world and I'm never going to leave ... even after they shut off the lights and lock the door ... I'm stayin'!

Seriously ... many of you I've gotten help from ... a few I may have helped ... but all of you are my family and I love each and every one of you and I'm grateful for your freindship.
