• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

I am seriously looking at jumping into P3D. I turn 60 next month, my second retirement kicks in, so I hope I will have some extra cash. My question is which option to go with, the Pro or Academic ? I am open to suggestions or opinions.

Academic for the majority of users.

Academic indeed, unless you plan to use P3D professionnaly and generate money out of it.
Also, be aware that the discussions about P3D licences are not very welcome on most FS forums (I mean, discussion like "Am I really allowed to take the Academic ? ..." etc...). If you look around, you will probably notice that a lot of topics about this are often deleted or locked, to prevent useless arguments ;)

PS: my last sentences sound more negative than I wished. Basically, it's perfectly fine to ask which licence you should get, but it's usually better to avoid the discussions about the legal aspects ;)
