Whistler Waterdrome Uploaded

Hope everyone finds it a fun place to visit. I failed to add a "credits" section to my readme and thereby leaving out the Beta Testers: I want to thank Sieggie, trucker17, RD and Firekitten for taking the time to download, install and critique the scenery package. Seems PNW is the only problem, which isn't surprising, so if you have that. . .this won't work with it, sorry. Anyway, thanks again to the beta testers, it's always good to have several extra sets of eyes looking over something you've spent a fair amount of time on. . .you'll always miss something that someone else will immediately pick up and and that was the case here. . .so Thank You!!:applause::guinness::guinness::guinness::guinness::applause:

One minor hiccup. I crash when spawning at the fuel box parking. J2F-4, LC126, and Goose with floats down. Easily fixed with ADE...Don

BTW, thanks for having my charter ready to go! :icon_lol:

I have PNW and I have not installed this. When I do, would you allow me converting it to PNW?

Indeed, this is such a fine scenery enhancement to the FS PNW area for seaplane flyers that it would make a lot of end users happy to have the additional fine tuning done for full FTX PNW compatibility.

Hope Ed sees fit to work with you on making this additional enhancement available. :naturesm:



PS: One might wonder if "Slartibartfast" was traveling a bit 'too fast for conditions' on the source imagery when it make the OrbX FTX PNW Whistler BC "Green Lake" water poly, and omitted portions of a 'alluvial fan' (or would that best be called a "Delta" ?) terrain poly as seen in FSX SDK TMFViewer at Whistler in: :icon_eek:

Examining this location in TMFViewer may reveal the vector scenery info, so one can determine vector GUID(s) for custom local water poly(s) which would have to be excluded prior to redrawing the water and shoreline etc. :iidea:

Thanks for the heads up on availability of this additional enhancement for seaplane flyers in the PNW (I was so busy at the time, that I missed this one when it was first released) ! :cool:


PS: Although Mikes package does not add a terrain feature of 'braided' water to the "delta" at Green Lake, it does add some other nice objects and a Helipad to that location in Whistler BC.


Between Eds and Mikes offerings, many pilots might be OK with things as they are there; if so: Happy Flying ! :)

There is no PNW Whistler CAE5, that's the Default SPB there so there is NO conflict.
But ............
I went ahead and installed it and made some adjustments. I moved the fuel park out from the pier a couple of feet, works now, I added a park at the dock, and there was an error in the runway. There was no water runway so I added one and ran the error checker and I got no errors. I also loaded it with both parks several times and got no crash.
Now .......... How do I make this available?
Can I just zip it and post it here?
 
Thanks Ed - you're now modelling in my backyard - I've hiked, skied, and climbed in this area extensively. While I'm not normally a floatplane type of guy, I'm going to install this and take a peek - anyone modelling anything to do with mountains (and/or accessing them) gets my nod - so a huge thanks for crossing up into Canada - much appreciated.

Interesting. I had 4 people beta test and none of them had a problem with the Fuel trigger. Since the lake is basically used (in this scenario anyway) for the resort, I saw no reason to add a rwy. The AFCAD has start positions and a reference point and is visible in the GPS, because of the position and shape of the Lake, there's only one way to approach and land. As far as a parking space. . .something I didn't feel was necessary either.

As far as posting it. Go ahead, just name it something different and don't include my name.
 
I only changed one file. CYW2-AFX.
You stated that the park at the fuel square would crash and it was not compatible. There is no SPB named that in FSX, there is a default, CYN2 which is listed as whistler. I did NOT change that nor did I change the ICAO you added, CAE5, Whistler, so there are 2 showing on the GPS.

That file is included in this post. Just extract and drop in the scenery folder of the scenery.

No sense in debating this, when I started this little project, Whistler was not even represented, the lake was there, but nothing else. I rebuilt the main lake (it was the wrong shape and size) and the smaller lakes south of Green Lake. I changed the ICAO code several times until I found one that wasn't already being used by other airports in the region-CYW2. CYN2 was one I tried but eventually had to drop because it was attached to another airport and CAE5. . .I have no idea where that one came from. Looking back on this thread, Don mentioned that the Fuel Spot caused a crash. . .I didn't see that. It's possible that CYN2 is embedded in the *_ALT.bgl found inside the main scenery/world/scenery folder. You have a PM that explains my stance on this and anything PNW in particular.:salute:
