I don't understand at all. Who hacks a MSFS website? What on earth would your motive be?

I take it that this is becoming more and more frequent? Maybe it's fratricide motivated by competition.:kilroy:

A vandal is a vandal. (Or, more properly, an a-hole is an a-hole.) Is there ever any rhyme or reason?

Yes there is. There are always specific reasons. The internet is huge, and you don't get information until you look for it. You can't just walk up on a website.

Or, far more likely, they did a Google search/script search for websites that have the security hole, then went for as many as they could.

"Hey! It's fun! Doesn't hurt anybody and they should have secured their site. We did them a favour by showing them the holes in their security!"

Hi Folks

Wonder if the flightsim.com forums were similarly hit ?
Nothing on their homepage,
but it looks like they're also trying to change their forum software.

For our 5 websites
I set up a 404 error reporting service.

Generally get about 5 seperate scripting hack attempts
per site per day.

Reasons for hacking,
the site's content / subject matter is irrelevant.

They're attempting to -
- gain access to mail server for spamming purposes..
- collect user login credentials.
- infect & recruit user's machines to botnets.
etc.

And they often brag about it :( Hate this kind of people. Why not to use their abilities for something useful...

Hackers tend to just hit any site by random just because they can, thats my experience. Though it does happen that they are specificly targeted when it comes to gaming clans.

there's gotta be someone somewhere that can find out who we're dealing with, right?

What piss me off is think how much time they spent to hack our site...wonder whats wrong with half the kids in the world...they spend more time trashing a system for nothing ....no wonder they can't find a job....a mind is a terrible thing to waste and what a waste they are.

The IP, adress, e-mail, and name are posted in this thread.
Actually the name and e-mail address are for the network operations contact for the ISP to which the IP address is one of many they administer, and not that of the person who's machine initiated the exploit.
