Who have you encountered so far?

My main pilot, 2nd Lieutenant Llewellyn Rhys, is serving with No. 56 Squadron at Vert-Galand, currently supporting the Arras-Neville offensive in April '17.

Rhys has a bag of three Albatri DIII, one from Jasta 32 (or maybe 26) and two from Jasta 12.

On his first day at the Front Rhys narrowly missed shooting down Franz Ray of Jasta 28 and peppered Max Ritter von Mueller some too.

I now toggle labels during combat... it's convenient and I like to know whom I'm fighting, but before that I was making a note of any personal decorations and looking it up afterwards .

I'm interested to know who has encountered whom, where and when... maybe it can form part of a 'News from the Front/Squadron Gossip' thread.

Obviously this applies to all nations, not just the Brits.

I'm no WWI junkie, so I can't identify who is who by markings, and I don't use labels. But I ran into a N17 last night with gold and blue stripes, with a figure-8 rectangular icon on its fuselage. Could be squadron markings, but I don't know, he was all alone....

Flying for the RFC I have encountered the one and only MvR and his circus, only to be forced down before I could put him down. It should be noted he shredded my flight to pieces.

Hi, DEJ and all
Good idea.
Best to be done like this (perhaps): when you identify an ace (per labels), you could press "pause", then switch off all disturbing things like instruments and radar, and make a screenshot "F12".
After that, you switch it all on again and go on.

It would be fun to post them screenshots here.

Cheers. Olham

PS: I had only 4 Campaign flights so far and met 4 Nieuports with a whitw Heart sign on the fuselage. But they had no ace labels.

Hans and Hans

These were taken in July of '16. I was flying for the Le Escadrille Americaine out of Behonne. I took Muller's wings off with a pair of rockets (was on a trainyard attack mission) after which my engine began to sputter as I flew through the blast!

Within seconds, Berr crossed my path and although I was already turning for home, I couldn't resist. He went down rather quickly.

I managed to land safely just over the lines on my side. They both survived though, as I ran into them again a few sorties later. Didn't fare too well the second time

Gunemeyer,i tried sooooo hard to stay on his tail (me in Halberstadt DII,Georges in Neuiport N.II?) managed to get a fair few rounds in too.......he gave me the slip,i had to run.Next time Georges....next time.

Hey!...anyone who bags two from Jasta 12 get's my vote!!

Ah, if only OFF were a persistent MMO then Rhys' run-in with Jasta 12 might've made a difference :d

AFAIK, they can be shot down, but will not die. They return to duty and only die on the correct day historically...you don't get to change history (maybe someday?)

I'd think, it's right this way.
We get the chance to shoot them down - great.
But won't change history - also great, as I wouldn't like to imagine, how the world would hate us Germans now.
And, this way I can "kill" the butcher McMannok very day! (Lol!)

What can Stumpjumper bring to the Table?

just about anything you could wish for and more.
he also has a complete airfield package for Italy.
and more special effects and addon's than you can emagine. the list would fill the page.
I am sure he will introduce his wizzerdry to you in due time.
just remember to have two installs of the game to avoid online mismatch problems.
MODDER'S rule.
If they didnt you wouldent have phase anything as this is a MODD. as well.

S! I am a Naval 10 aviator and we just sortied on our new Tripehounds. How wonderful this mount is! My CO and his wingman decided to dive into a group of 8 V-strutters over their aerodrome and that was the last I or anyone else, save Germans, saw of them. I played 'King of the Hill' over my 3 opponents who were later joined by 2 more. Since I was 'king' and on top of everyone the closest would be privileged to receive Vickers Victuals. The 1st recipient so engorged himself he could not fly, fell off on a wing and went away. The next to try was this 'black' sided fellow (Lothar v Richtofen) who got desert 1st in lieu of a full course meal. I cont' my 'dippsy doodle' tactics and sent another away with indigestion, belching smoke. His roomate must have decided to join him and hold his hand on the way down. I gave another a dose of lead pepper and he sneezed his wing off. Blackie and I went around a bit waltzing in the usual manner but the boorish Bohemians on the ground(pun) would have none of it and holed my tank and 'adjusted' my motor for me so that it ran as rough as I'm sure they were. Later- Lucky Lothar! I slowly climbed away toward our lines and was pretty much enjoying the scenery when the motor cut out! Sure is pretty and quiet but I have plenty of altitude to reach our lines. I was brought back to reality with the staccato of twin Spandu's! I almost broke my stick pushing it foward so forcefully. Damn, there goes that quid (and every other loose object from my person and cockpit)! In a flash passes 'balckie'. I crash land, am captured and hospitalised for mild injuries. I was one of Lothar's 'victims' but I bet he can't sleep knowing I, the better pilot, escaped after a sortie with my nurse,Brunhilde! S!

You could just turn on labels momentarily and see who it is....just an idea..

I believe so. I have the honorable Baron and Immelman down on the same battle in 1916. I have the pictures on the other computer and will post them soon. I haven't viewed them yet so I hope they turned out. I was so shaky that with my left hand on the keyboard trying to press the right buttons, I am curious to see .

I have not pictures. I was so excited, I didn't get one screen shot and I know that I pressed the keys on my keyboard at least 15 times. I think I was pressing Ctrl + the ' key rather than the Ctrl + the ; key!!:faint:

I like to fly total realism.
For me.. Hud, Labels, Cone etc are an absolute NoNo

Just me and the inflight map!....so probably would'nt know if I shot an Ace down anyhow
