Who's Doing a Lear 23?

I thought I saw a thread here about someone doing a LJ23? Bizjets are my thing and we could use a fresh new jet, even if it's an older Lear.... fine with me!

I have since changed it to a Learjet 24B. Its basically a 23, but has some updates to the fuel management panel, the instrument panel is nicer (similar or nearly identical to the 25) and the enunciator panel is located on the top dash hood.

So I am now working on the Learjet 24b or LJ24. (big windows version, not the multiple small windows).

Either way.... love that little jet! What a sweet ride. Isn't there a LJ24 in the movie S.W.A.T ? They "landed" on a bridge and tried to use it as a getaway plane lol...

I'd think the differences between the numbers for the 23 & 24 would be negligible as (from an unchecked source):

"First 104 Learjets build were 23's. Serial numbers 1 up to 99. There were 5 extra 'A' serial numbers inserted in the production line (028A, 045A, 050A, 065A, 082A). 13 Learjet 23's were converted to a Learjet 24 (serials 011, 012, 015, 019, 031, 043, 050, 051, 055, 060, 065, 087, 096). The 23 and early 24's had the same number of cabin windows (3) and the 'bullet' on the tail. Starting with the model 24D (24-218 & 24-230 thru 24-328) it had small cabin windows and no more bullet on the tail."

nice to read this news. Don't know if the 24B have an AP with a nav tracking capability, if not, i think it's a must have option ?

They are similar to the ole 737's. Very ancient AP technology. I did see though what I thought was a nav tracker the other day when working on the panel. I could be wrong though. We'll see what happens. I do want this to have all of the complications of that era and that plane, but it would be nice to have NAV mode.

A simple AP (NAV/HDG/ALT) would be great. I think a lot of them are retrofitted with a single FMS like the Universal 1Fw/eW... but im good without one. I'll probably add in a popup with GNS530W hehe.

Perhaps a modern "retrofit" panel and a 60's vintage original panel option. All the 24's I saw on Controller.com for sale had all been upgraded with Garmins and RVSM which requires a more advanced autopilot.

I would love to see any incarnation of the Lear 24, have never flown one, but I got to go on a post-maintenance test flight back in 1998 .. from sea level to FL310 and back to the airport in one big hurry! What a ride .... Looking forward to you working your magic Bill !!!! Mike
