Hi,
This is doing me in, I CANT FACE YET ANOTHER UNINSTALL AND REDO EVERYTHING A THIRD TIME.

Correct install of 1.5 obsolete file remover bat file as per grizzly50 followed by 1.5 exe exact as per instructions then sees existing ETO start icon fail to find target, and running it from the target folder so bypassing the startup shortcut still fails as it then cant find cfs3.exe which is with it in the same folder.

Where does the bat file look for the cfs3.exe ?

If I double click that cfs3.exe the sim then runs ! as to what era its running who knows so that isnt an option.

Properties of shortcut> click on target, we see "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion\MASTERETOSTARTUP.bat"

that file is in that location, so why cant shortcut find it.?

If I double click that bat file in that folder I see the era menu, select1 and hit enter and enter and get cfs3.exe not found, yet that is also in that same folder, and if i double click it it runs CFS3.

I cant run era 1 by bypassing that startup bat file and d/clicking cfs3.exe as how then does it know I want to run era1.

THIS IS THE RESULT OF A WEEK REDOING TWICE NOW THE ETO INSTALL. it was working under 1.4 and hotfix, then 1.5 does this. , mistakes were mine or misleading info, this time with eto 1.4 functioning and all as per videos and readme's and assistance from grizzly50, I followed the bat removal then exe install exactly.

NOW WHAT ?

This sounds like a similar problem I had, if you are running x64.
Go to the main CFS3 ETO Expansion folder then to the Global Layer folder and look at your ETOGL Swapper.bat and make sure the path is program file (x86), and don't miss the one at the end of the file. I don't think the instructions tell you to check all the paths.

mcbob, Thats it FANTASTIC. :applause: I was about to yet again do an entire reinstall.

Fixes the failure of ETO 1.5 to run on 64bit Operating Systems, well mine anyway.

The install instructions are missing a whole chunk of steps for 64bit users. :jawdrop:

Can someone get the following instructions added to the 1.5 install a.s.a.p :running: PLEASE .

either say follow video for win7 64bit install , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaeCYsrLI2k
and the part users will need starts at 7:09 so as to copy to clipboard for multiple use and accuracy, the special x86 address of Program Files for 64bit , or run it from 4:25 though I found the MASTERETOSTARTUP.bat address was ok and had the x86 address. No harm in checking though :encouragement:.

Or add the following to the instructions (my wording as follows, edit it to suit !) :-
If after install of ETO 1.5, if the game wont run from the ETO Start desktop icon, 64bit users should check the following:-
Go to your Games Folder that you browsed to for the 1.5 install, most likely the Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion folder.
Find the MASTERETOSTARTUP.bat file and single click it and in your preview pane see if it shows the Program Files (x86) address, if so all is good there,
If you have no preview pane then right click it, select properties and untick read only, ok that then right click it again and select edit , cancel out if all is ok address wise for Program Files (x86)
if not see video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaeCYsrLI2k for install ETO 1.0 at 4:25 into the footage.
Then scroll up to Global Layer folder and open it, single click the ETOGLSwapper.bat and the chances are it does not have the Program Files (x86) address
Follow instructions in either the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaeCYsrLI2k from 4:25 onwards, the part that deals with this file is at 7:53 or follow the instructions in the readme for ETO 1.0

It may be that the author of the instructions can word this better and add the appropriate steps at the appropriate time during the install, as this no doubt needs doing before the sim is run !
