Wierd things happening

Shadow Wolf 07

SOH-CM-2025
Okay so I'm starting the USN Campaign. Understand that where a mission calls for launching from a carrier, I've substituted Usio's Lexington and the VN Yorktown and Enterprise for the stock ships (as well as Usio and VN escorts and support ships).

The first wierdie occurs anytime I launch from the Usio Lexington. The mission starts and I'm on deck. within 2-3 seconds I'm at 500+ feet above the flight deck. Ihave to quickly nose down and start my engine to keep from crashing. This doen't happen with the stock or VN carriers. :faint:

Second, and this is in all missions and quick combat. I'm getting a scroll damage message on screen anytime I hit an enemy plane or object, much like you see in multiplayer. Sometimes this is good because with 2-3 hits on a wingtip I can break off and save ammo. That plane is going down. :ernae: But more often than not it is a visibility annoyance.

Third, warp is enabled, even before taking off and anytime in the mission, even when enemy aircraft are nearby.

Any tips or suggestions short of reinstalling? :typing:

I think I can address the second issue. On my computer, "Shift + D" is the key to toggle that on and off.

Also, "Ctrl + Shift + L" toggles aircraft labels.

The third problem sounds like the cheat for allowing slew is set to "on". Open your cfs2.cfg file, scroll down to the cheats section and make sure allow slew is set to zero.

[CHEATS]
allow_slew=0

The new flightdeck is probably higher (Alt.) than the stock one, ...so the start is inside the .mdl, ...so the prog is re-settin' the start to a min. ALT.

Check and compare the ship.cfg/ [platform.0]/vertex.n=xx.xxx,this number,xx.xxx of the two CV's.

Ya may have ta hand edit the start EL's of the missions.

That's a "cheat".

CFS2.cfg/[CHEATS]/"show_damage_log=0" should fix it. (or "DAMAGEMSGS=0")

OYO, ...

The cures for 2 and 3 were so basic and simple I almost feel ashamed. I didn't have that problem with the Lex before, so 'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the free warp and slew being on. I'm gonna give her a try again and if I yo-yo up I'll just download and reinstall the beast. I've only had the problems since last weekend and all of them appeared together.

Thanks for the tips guys!

Note: I flew one mission off her and when I returned, those big 8 inch rifles were pointed across the flight deck in the direction of the last enemy attack... cool! See the end of this video: http://s81.photobucket.com/albums/j220/Pechora07/?action=view&current=SavingLadyLexAgain.flv

Edit:

all problems cleared up with changing Cheats to 0 values

Thanks for catching my error. I proof read my post but still missed that I had typed allow_slew=0 instead of free_warp=0. Doh!:redf:

At least you knew what I meant.

LOVED the Victory at Sea music! :ernae: Had a tape of that and all of Souza's music on tape to keep me awake when driving home sometimes. My wife did not appreciate it me pulling into the driveway at 530 Am with all speakers blaring on the car!
Had the full V at S albums till they were all given away when I was given orders to WestPac for deployment to SNam. ( But that is another story of militaty FUBAR!) Now only have reproductions of the originals. Not the same. :faint:

BTW were did you get the HUD on the right side of the screen, specifically the working compass at the bottom of the display?
