Wilco Citation X on sale! $13.48

Lionheart

SOH-CM-2014
Hey guys,

The Wilco Citation X is on sale for $13.48. This is a 24 hour sale at PC Aviator.

From the looks of it on the video, this thing is absolutely amazing. It features and incredible panel with voice warnings on traffic, has weather radar, and has what appear to be FMC's. I dont know if they are fully functioning FMC's though. A real FS FMC is an amazing bit of code architecture, but then so is weather radar, traffic radar, etc..

Anyways, there is your heads up on a good deal.

PC aviator has been having some great sales lately, but since this is a Feelthere product, I'll pass (really bad experience on their FS9 Caravan)

Thanks for the HU though.

Thanks very much for the HU Bill, and kudos to you too Michael for the review link,I've been waiting for the EagleSoft version to come out and I 've been on the fence about the Wilco jet.The Avsim review was very favorable and at just under $14.00[about what I spent for lunch today] how can I not take a chance.
:ernae: Thank You

With all the Wilco jets I've purchased I've had problems with the autopilots. I'll pass.

So. What's the word? Is this a true MDLXMDLH FSX model or not? I'm willing to give it a try if it's FSX native; but if it's a "compatible" FS9 port with some camera views attached, I'd rather spend my $14 on a new DVD.

Also, for those of you who've taken the plunge, what are the FPS like compared to the default FSX Lear 45?

From the video showing the waitress having a shiny surface, I am going to guess its a FSX model. The conversion of the model needs to have the passenger (lady) material adjusted with a Specular that will take out the shine. (been there, done that, got a closet full of t-shirts, lol).

Just a theory though. Will be interesting to find out.

Nice plane...worth thirteen bucks. But something in the gauges causes a crash to desktop whenever I change planes. It's a problem for me...I change planes alot. But for long flights this works fine.
Autopilot isn't the easiest to work...I changed it.

Autopilot isn't the easiest to work...I changed it.

That's the problem with Wilco aircraft. they are all like that. Wilco can keep it! They made a beautiful E-Jet series and the autopilot does not work. Their 737's in FS9 were the same way. I could not depend on the autopilot to do a correct ILS approach. :faint:

There two downloads (FS9 and FSX).. The FSX model folder shows two models.. and just to be sure, I opened them with a hex-editor...

It is indeed a true, FSX model.

I'm impressed so far (especially for $14).. but there are issues.. although not any worse than other payware. I'lll continue testing and report back..

The outside visual model is very nice, the cockpit however leaves something to be desired,Of course coming from the F1 Mustang to this is like night and day,I'ts a good holdover till the Eaglesoft version is done, truth be told if I spent full price on it I would of been a bit disappointed.

I just bought it, I'm not the usual impulse buyer, but I did the same with the CS C130 Pro pack for like 14 bucks (US)

It is a true FSX model, because the VC has the interior and main mdl files.

I'm testing it on Vista x64 and it works fine. The exterior model is pretty basic I must say (no complaints for 13.50 USD though) The VC frame rates are on par with the ES SR22 G3 Turbo FSX model. So it hits the FPS about 30-40% from the stock Learjet lets say.

The FMC appears to be fully functioning

Here's some quick n dirty shots for anyone still on the fence, showing the not so beautiful VC textures....the cockpit gauges are very readable (see shot taken @ 1.5 zoom), just the paneling is yucky around the gauges. Model is basic but clean, pretty frame rate friendly...

It's a nice, accurate flight model.. the big engines don't "rocket" it off the ground (they're supposed to be inneficient at se-level.. unlike the default Lear which is ridiculously over-powered at low altitudes).. it handles predictably... it's a nice model, although as mentioned.. the interior is a little rough...

All-in-all, it's well worth the 14 bucks :wiggle:

Bought the fs9 model at full price and am quite satisfied with it. FMC is working well.

Main issues are :

- The VC panel is too dark when the sun is not straight behind the aircraft (FS9 in XP with Nvidia 7800Gs)

- the thrust reversers can be set after landing but not armed to deploy on touching the ground.

- some of the pressurization switches don't work.

- the pilot handbook which wants to be humoristic is actually under par for a complicated aircraft like the X.
