Update:

I've been having a blast with it :woot:

Being a person who will ONLY start a flight from a completely cold-n-dark cockpit.. I'm getting to really get a feel for this model, and its systems. I'll admit to getting a little aggravated at times.. but (even as a 1500 hour R/L pilot), I imagine that would happen if I were thrust into the cockpit of a real Citation X :kilroy:

What I've found interesting, is that ground-power seems to be randomly available.. so you had better get that APU fired up... (and it uses up fuel, too)..

The FMC is a lot like the one in my CaptainSim 757, only better. I'm still importing FS flight-plans for learning it.. but I refuse to take a flight using the FMC until I can program it from scratch.. SOOOoooo the flights that I have taken, have been pretty simple.. I'll use the FMC to hold me on course.. and even calculate and fly the descent (I really like that feature), but I take over and shoot the approach, by hand.

On that note, the flight dynamics continue to impress me. Flap deployment yields a more realistic affect than most models, and the handling in general feels perfect, for a jet of its size. Fuel consumption/management is dead-on.

I've yet to land at one of the airports where you get a VIP greeting (it modies scenery files)... I'm saving that until I can truly be a Citation pilot.. startup to shutdown..

I'm having another kind of problem. Each time I close a flight in this aircraft, I get the "Microsoft Flight Simulator Has Stopped Working" message and it shuts down. There is also a Vista message that pops up saying that the program was shut down to protect the PC from "malicious code", or something like that. It relates to this feature of Vista:
What is Data Execution Prevention?
Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) code from system memory locations reserved for Windows and other authorized programs. These types of attacks can harm your programs and files.
Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this?

Get IT Guys!!!!!!!.....I got it yesterday and last night flew in Tibet with it.....Nice, really nice. The VC is .8, the outside .9
the woman inside ------UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! horrible even with those boobs!!!!!!!!!......takes off at 1200 feet in Lasha after a run of almost 8000 ft at around 95 -----lands like a kitten and is full of voices, a copilot, calling the shots with a tenor voice---not the dam "pullup" stuff----and all kinds of whines and sounds for flaps, gear and others.....neat.....good for the price they are charging..............my report---with some Italian Wine by the side!:ernae:( Note I use XP......I have Vista on other machine but hardly use the thing)

I posted up above with pics etc but one thing after flying I've noticed the autopilot is bad at capturing G/S + Localizer. It's also bad when leveling off after a climb or descent.

I also get a "Data Execution Prevention has closed this program etc etc" after closing off FSX . I don't know what that means but essentially FSX is having some error upon closing when the last plane I flew was the Citation X

DEP is just a feature of Windows. I think it stops things like DLL files writing when they don't have proper permission etc.

I had endless troubles with RXP gauges and DEP in Vista. You have to go via My Computer> Properties> Performance> DEP to add exceptions.

OK, purchased and downloading now.......

We'll see if it lives up to the hype (I've received 3 emails already this past week from PC Aviator telling me about the sale)....

-G-

Edit:

Took my first flight...very realistic. Not at all like the default Lear. I think I'm going to like this one.......

Got it. Like it. You can jump in and fly, but don't expect to jump in and sucessfully use the autopilot. Time for me to ****. :)

Hey Dan - what is that aircraft in your sig? Is it available for FSX?

Nice to see life back in the old girl. To be fair the model is several years old and originally FS9 only, but looking at the screen shots it looks like the exterior ( my work ) hasnt changed that much except maybe for the new FSx animations and materials. Nice to see the red tail version again, I'd forgotten I'd done that one :). I wish I'd learnt baked textures back then, but y'all should find the textures easy enough to use, I think I included the FS9 layered masters, dont know if they ended up in the final product.

It was a pleasant project and totally at odds with all my military stock at the time, oddly I never did get a finished product but it was fun and I'm pleased people are taking something positive from an old model. The older lower poly model will be why many are getting good frame rates.

Enjoy

Michael

Michael,

I wasn't aware that you had worked on the Citation X. Very nice. The exterior is beautiful. Just got thru with a short ferry flight from KSUS to KSTL (one we do many times in R/L with our King Airs...we have a 90E and a 300).

She's great to fly. I only wish the t/r animations would work in instant replay...but oh well.

Are there any good repaints out there?

I have to confess, that of maybe all of the 100 or maybe more models I've built or been involved with the Citation X gave the greatest satisfaction when finished, probably because it was not run of the mill. Its maybe a little small for my complete enjoyment, I like the 50-200-seat market a bit better, but it was a fun clean model to build and I can easily understand the appeal these smaller craft have for people, its a shame there are few military equivalent prototypes around.
<o:p></o:p>
The door, ahh, yes the door, it took months to work out there was a double door at the bottom, the main door and then a sub door covering the hinge to blend it with the belly fairing :).<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I did get a look around the inside of a Piaggio Avante at Duxford a few years back, that’s a neat aircraft and nice clean cockpit too, you know the sort, where panels fit and there’s no awkward holes here and there!.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
-G-, <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I don’t know of any repaints to be honest, though I do have to say that getting some of the current ones to line up and not become distorted was a right pain!, I'd certainly do several things differently next time with the mapping and such.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Boom,<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Cheers, it is nice and clean, though I do empathise with someone’s comments above, it is beginning to show some age when compared to these more modern no poly limit models that are now coming out, I think even just baked textures on the gear well and gear would enhance those areas, maybe a few hoses and smaller details would enhance those areas, same for flap and spoiler wells, too late now as that would be a model remap and rebuild.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
The rest of the model and FDE was done by others so accolades to them, I had no trouble with Feelthere at all, quite the opposite, so it is concerning to see others strife, thankfully on this occasion, that side of the product is well outside of my control :).<o:p></o:p>
