Wildcat?

Yes, the freeware FM-2 is meant to portray what it claims to be - it has the taller tail and the different engine/cowl section that easily define the type from the Grumman-built F4F's.

The freeware FM-2, which is by Phil Crowther, is available at Avsim, filename: escort_carrier_group.zip with the update: fm2_update.zip

A very nice model!

There is also a repaint for it, by Mike Barnes, of a Martlet Mk.V (Royal Navy FM-2), at Flightsim.com, filename: wildcatv_rn.zip

Here are a couple of pics of the FM-2. It's not bad, and has an animated pilot (feet and hands in the VC, also head in external view) though the VC is otherwise a bit sparse compared with the JF. The mainwheels don't quite touch the ground when at rest. Maybe someone has a fix for this. Personally I prefer the JF one, but it's just that. preference, as I prefer the earlier classic Wildcat. The filename is escort_carrier_group and it includes a Casablanca class carrier and Fletcher class destroyer, for use with AiCarriers

Sorry to bring up this old thread! But where can I find the weathered VC textures? The link to JF is a dead end.

:dizzy:
