Wilga X Released (Pay-ware)

Hello :salute:

A great thank's for this news concerning this new patch.
This addon is really awesome, best regards. Olivier.

Thanks for the news of the update. Apparently texture related.

I'm giving the templates a go. A tad frustrating figuring out this mapping. I guess I'll have to lay a grid over it and get it labeled before I go any further.

Thanks for the great repaint Yoyo :jump:

Wilga X sound problem

Is there anybody amongst the Wilga X users who can confirm following problem (error?):
- After engine shut down the engine sound stops but the propeller still turns several seconds soundlessly.

(If yes) Is there any improvement possible?

Dieter

Bonjour Dieter,

I also found that the shutdown sound was indeed quite short and resolved this by doing the following :

1. I selected another shutdown sound, preferably from a radial engine which could fit as far as the sound was concerned but had a longer time period for the engine shutdown... (the new one rated 111kb as compared to the original 15kb);

2. Unfortunately, this one was a bit too long for the propeller movement (prop stopped before the sound did) but there is a fix in the aircraft cfg in the propeller section which allows the prop to turn longer by changing the "propeller_moi" setting by increasing it from 30.000 to 40.000 in my case...
Depending on the sound that you select, you might be right on or have to adjust the propeller_moi a bit as I did...

3. You'll have to change both interior and exterior sound in the sound section. They are '1ai14_shut' (for exterior) and 'ai14_shut' (for interior). Save the originals and rename the new sounds with those names (without the exterior/interior)...

I don't remember who gave me this trick (the second part) or where I got it first but it works !

Now the propeller shutdown sequence matches the shutdown sound ... :kilroy:

Hello Fleurdleys,

Thank for very much for your detailed description. I will try that.
Perhaphs you could give me another hint:
- Can you tell the name of the sound you used (maybe download source) or which one you suggest.

BTW,
This is a great community where simmers really find support!
I posted this problem in the Aerosoft forum. You might read there what a staff member answered.

Dieter

Why a need of secrecy? Anyone who purchased (like myself) the Wilga might like this modification. Can you not share with everyone?

Sorry Oleboy,

I didn't mean to be secretive about it and the fact that I did share my recipe for a "personal" fix with Dieter and the rest of the Sim community at Sim-Outhouse for that matter speaks for itself, I believe...

What I didn't want to do is make known the specific ingredient that I used to steer clear of arguments and showing any preference towards one shutdown sound instead of another as they are all pretty good to start with and are more a matter of taste than results.

If you refer to my answer to Dieter's request, you will find that I did suggest that you use whatever shutdown sound that meets your fancy and work from there. Giving my personal choice to all would be akin to comparing different brands of tomato soup and the loosers might arguably object to not being chosen...
In this case, Dieter is the only one who knows what is my chosen tomato soup brand... :icon_lol:

Cheers,

Fleurdelys

Bug fixes (for me it is one), are normally not job of the users. (It's excellent if they do so)
More users should complain about this sound problem of the soundless propeller after the shut down phase in the Aerosoft forum.
The more complaints, the higher the pressure to react and to do something.
The Wilga is certainly a well-made aircraft!!! Why should this little problem not be resolved?
When I ask my question in the Aerosoft forum, one official answered with a stupid counter question, without going into my problem, I think that's very cynical
and I don't feel treated as a welcome customer!
I also sent a PM to the authors (OctopusG) of this software. But so far I didn't receive a reply.

You have absolutely right. Maybe the reason is the same to why he can't move a vertex to right a littlebit on the side-window next to the instrument panel's left side. There's a hole now. :(

But so far I didn't receive a reply.
Yeah...unfortunately OctopusG team not so active on the Aerosoft's forum... :(

There is a (more realistic?) sound package for the Wilga on avsim:
- wilgasound.zip

If you don't like it, only try the two
new included shut down sounds
-
1ai14_shut.wav
- ai14_shut.wav
for getting a better shutdown sound sequence. Sound is on until the propeller stops.
Make a backup of the two original files and copy the new ones into the Wilga sound folder.

Thx, will test it.
