Wilga X Released (Pay-ware)

I'm a little late on pursuing this. I posted a request on the Aerosoft forums to OctopusG, in hopes he will revisit the Wilga to correct the model/mapping issues. I'd really like to complete/release the repaints I started.

Much as I loved this little bird when I first bought it, for some reason, it's been quick to loose it's appeal for me. Just happens that way for me sometimes.

Anyone get this with some addons - even high quality ones?

New patch - incoming !

Only pity than the winther is out ! :D

Hi Yoyo :salute:

WOW, incredible and happy news !!!
The Wilga is an awesome addon but with this new model you offer us a great gift :applause:
A great thank's for this news.

Best regards, Olivier.

All that time invested to model the ski arrays and no mention about fixing the stiffeners that go down the port and starboard aft fuse sides?

I don't know about anybody else but, yes, I have the same affliction. Can't wait for a new release whether it's payware or freeware and then once I've obtained it, the new soon wears off. I find myself back to flying one or two of the same old airplanes I've had forever.

Heck Dougal! I even have the same problem with my radio controlled airplanes. And they are quite a bit more expensive than any payware FSX stuff...LOL.

I have mellowed out some over the years in my purchases. Am not quite as prone to impluse buying anymore.

Peace+

i do the same thing..but not just with flightsim...i collect diecast,,cars, planes, tanks, tractors,,,i love to "hunt" for them online ( i refuse to use the word shopping) but i spend hours looking for just the "right model"..that really cool one..like i spent weeks looking for Col Andersons P-39 so i could have him autograph it,once i ordered it,got the autograph,ad stuck it on the shelf,,,i lost intrest...i do the same with books..DVDs/blu-rays..spend weeks even months searching for an old 1930s-40s movie...buy it..then stick in my shelves and never watch it...

Dave, I have a buddy that you remind me a lot of. I (and my friend) collected a lot like you in relation to the die-cast. And a lot like Rdaniel in my R/C past.
Flightsim models have that same lure. It's an addiction to toys.

I've learned a lot since I moved over to flightsim. I learned that spontaneity generally leads to dissatisfaction.
I let others leap first. Then watch to see if they make the right decision.
It's just not penny-wise to buy something just to 'support' a developer, when the model (or whatever it may be) doesn't suit my expectations only to get pushed aside and forgotten.

On another note; Flightsim add-on reviews, generally speaking, are usually snake oil, because the person doing the review has gotten the 'reviewed' item for free and is obligated to speak good merits.

That's exactly what it is. At least was in my case. Previews of incoming addons looked thrilling and expectations were high. Blood was pumping and adrenaline rushing, while I flashed my CC to make a new purchase:icon_lol:. And then after a few spins they felt pretty meh and started collecting dust in my virtual hangar. But on the other hand this Wilga looks pretty alluring...View attachment 61854:icon_lol:

You guys are great! Some wonderful repaints here - congrats and kudos to all!

Umm, now which versions are there left out there for me to paint - you seem to have covered them all ;)

Well, if someone is allowed to express humble wishes, the USSR/CCCP-paints amount to none at the moment. And perhaps some from the Baltic states (former CCCP-registrations).

It is with deep regret that I must shy off painting this plane - I have just looked at the paintkit and tried the "Beeline" livery. Straight vertical lines "aren't". The paintkit works if you either have 3DS Max and paint on the 3D model (not something us mere mortal painters can help with normally) or you draw crazy zigzags on the texture just to get straight verticals. What's more - the rear fuselage is also mapped "stretched" by the looks of it and the leg fairings are mirrored - so any text on the leg fairing is reversed on one side.

It's good enough if all you want to do is paint plain coverage paints or the livery doesn't call for stripes over the 3d model's kinked bits. Certainly it's not a totally impossible paintkit.

As a plane - I love flying it. It's damn quirky to get started and it flies nicely when compared to many sim models.

Take a look -

I grant that if you move back a bit, the kinks fade but I tend to prefer accurate detail.

I haven't and won't bother checking to see if the wing flap, aileron and slat hinges are mirrored - it won't surprise me if they aren't - this livery has striped wings and I can imagine yellow hinges on the black stripes or vice versa.

By the way - I have parachuted from a Wilga - I love it still.

Welcome to my realm of gripes Chris. I came to your conclusions a long time ago. Mentioned it in the AS forums, sent the modeler a couple emails, to no avail.
Simple schemes are just that.

I don't even fly it anymore. No one cares from a developers POV, they got their dosh. They moved forward and left this eyesore in the dust.
