Will the C9 Phantom work in FSX?

Navy Chief

Senior Member
I bought their Phantom years ago, but never tried it in FSX? I am sure there are the usual problems, but will it work?

NC

NavyChief, yes it works just fine. The model is really great and she flies very well in FSX. All that is need is to change the texture C9F4vc7 and C9F4vc8 to conform to the FSX alpha channel. This will allow your cockpit glass to be clear. You will also need to build a FSX vc panel for the gauges to work. I did this will a collection of gauges from other FSX aircraft I have purchased. The best thing of all is there is little or no effect on FPS.

Hope this helps, Tom

Hey Tom,

Dont suppose you wanna save me a bunch of time & email me your panel cfg??

When it comes to payware I pretty much have them all. :icon_eek:

Ditto on Boomers request for VC panel, etc.... But first I need to redownload the Phantom from C9.. Once I get things ready, I'll contact you, if that's ok?

No problem NavyChief, I am off to the dentist this morning but will be home later today to help.

Regards, Tom

How do you change the texture? I've redone the panel, but I can only fly the C9 Phantom in FSX SP1 because of the glass issue.

I used the Alphasim guages from the F-104 and F-5.

hate to be a pain but can some post a zip in the files section of the updated texture and panel.cfg please :help:

jeansy, the files to make the Cloud9 F-4 panel work in FSX are done with gauges from different aircraft purchased over time. The updated was done for personal use only and because of copyright issues will not be posted. If you are interested in the textures, there are two that need to be replaced and I can definitely help you with that.

Send me an email if you want the textures.

Regards, Tom

Bear in mind that the panel.cfg will be useless if you do not have the appropriate gauges installed from other 3rd party addons. Other issues with the C9 Phantom in FSX are that some animations don't work and the fde is off too.
I wound up deleting it and will wait patiently for A2A to release their Phantom package. :amen:

I recognize I may not have all of the gauges but at least it would give me a place to start.

Here's my panel.cfg mod. Just scroll down to the bottom of the original panel.cfg and replace it with this. You'll need some of the original C9 guages, so don't get rid of that guage file. Unless you have the Alphasim F-104 or F-5, you'll need to insert your own guages. Your guages may not work out as well, because I had to change all of the coordinates to suit the Alphasim guage sizes. Alot of the Alphasim guages are used in other aircraft they have built, so if you have one, it may work.

Are you....

....able to make the canopies both open and close? Because I can't get it to do that. IF you can, how do you do it?

Kent

This is going to take some tweaking to get it right for fsx BUT it can be done. Its just going to take alot of trial and error.
