Windows 10 Question

Not flight sim related (well not directly), but I was wondering if some of the more computer literate members here might be able to help me.

On two occasions I've upgraded my everyday computer to Windows 10 but on both occasions I've suffered the same problem regarding an external hard drive on which I store all my flight sim downloads. The problem is that Windows 10 doesn't seem to install the drivers correctly, so any transfers are slow or non existent. The computer "see's" the hard drive, but that's abut all. Windows 10 starts installing the drivers but never completes the job, and the manufactures Hitachi don't offer drivers for their products. Does anyone have any suggestions, or am I going to have to buy a new External Hard Drive in order to use Windows 10?

Thanks in advance,

Ian

I can't help you directly, @IanHenry, but just know that you're not alone with driver problems with Windows 10.

In my case, it was my Realtek Ethernet card, whiich eventually got updated.

I have heard that Microsoft is rolling out driver updates on a fixed schedule.

I suggest you ask directly on Microsoft forums, like this one, for example:

Even on the official Microsoft support forums, Hitachi doesn't get any love:

Thanks jschall, it seems like I'll have to wait, but I don't want to upgrade again until I know Microsoft have fixed the drivers, bit of a Catch 22 situation.

USB drivers are usually shipped by the mainboard manufacturers, so you might want to check there.
