Windows 11 Setup - Scenery.cfg

HBF

Members +
When I install the "no cd" version, about half way through the process, up pops a "scenery.cfg file not found". Does anyone know where this is supposed to go and how to get one?
Thanks!

I haven’t used Windows 11 right now. But if you have a working CFS2 installation, just copy the whole folder with CFS2 on a USB stick or an external drive, and past the folder on the hard drive wherever you want. Then replace the CFS2.exe with the “No CD” CFS2.exe. In Windows 10 (64 bit) this works fine for me. I don’t know how it works in Windows 11, I suggest to look into the Windows 10/11 snafu / content thread | Page 27 | SOH Forums for further information.

In general, I have a clean new install of cfs2 saved as backup on an external hard drive and a copy of my current used CFS2, as backup.

The scenery.cfg file is a text file that has the different sceneries in your CFS2 installation. The stock installation always has a scenery.cfg file which has a standard set of sceneries. But the user can install additional sceneries by placing the additional scenery file in the ADDON folder or the SCENEDB folder. The additional scenery file can then be added to the game via the settings button and then the scenry library button or by manually typing it into the scenery.cfg with Windows Notepad. it looks like this when opened with Notepad:

There are several tutorials in the Library on addition of various sceneries. They will teach you about adding any sceneries you want though. A good one is Rami's European install guide - here:
