Windows 7 install fix

Hi ! Thanks for the tips
i have now a laptop with windows seven x64
CFS3.1a is installed : note that oleacc.dll has to be disable after the patches.
cfs3win7 shortcut dont work properly, but original cfs3 and nocd work both.
i can host game, and xp user can connect
but i still had a problem to join xp game ?! cfs3 crash when connecting to host.
and Guess ! oleacc.dll has to be DELETED. renaming it is not enough.

Need little help

I've been ready with all steps mention by TW, and all is working well without crashing effects except 3.1a updates. I did this patch without error messages as normal user and as administrator but I can't join hosted games with this modified aircraft because of aircraft mishmash. I't seems that the patch would not installed well. What can I do in this case?

I've done exactly what you told and CFS3 works, but it's not connected to the internet, how can I do that?

ya, same thing. it says "network error, please make sure you are connected to the internet and try again"

it thinks im not connected :(

When you try to host a multiplayer session, be sure to uncheck the box for the gamematch server, because it doesn't support CFS3 anymore. (you find it on the second screen, where you enter the name of the game, password etc.)

Thank you Sirs!

Finally after having the discs for nearly two years I was able to run the game even though I haven't attempted multiplayer yet. Have a couple of minor issues though, namely...

1: Am I supposed to update the engine with CFS3UpdateEng.exe and ACUpdate.exe before making the edits to CFS3.exe (for win 7 64b) or after fixing the compat and admin modes???

2: I don't have any control panel (quite limiting not having an artificial horizon or other gauges...) or is it an HUD option or somesuch I'm missing?

Living in hope...

btw: running 1920x1080 main and 1280x1024|8800gt 512M|P35-DS3|e8200|6G 1066RAM|IntelG2 80G boot|Win7pro64

Regards from down under,
Dave

Hi Dave

1. Yes, apply the updates before you make the changes of CFS3.EXE

2. Pressing "F5" toggels the HUD on and of. You can place the HUD instruments anywhere you want by just dragging them with your mouse. "F3" toggels the virtual cockpit on and of.

Cheers

I get a 'The program can't start because COMMON.DLL is missing from you computer.' I see that there's a common.dll file on the main CFS3 folder, I was always tole that installing .DLL files is never a good idea.

Any thoughts???

maybe there's something wrong with your shortcut?

Check in properties of the shortcut if the "target"-tab and the "execute in"-tab point to the CFS3-root folder.

Well, and that's what they should do!

What OS are you running?

Edit:
Did you try to hit on CFS3.EXE directly in your CFS3-folder? what happens then?

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, I tried installing CFS3 a few months ago before I found this thread. I can open CFS3.exe but not everything will display.

What do you mean with "not everything will display"? What is displaying, what isn't?

Did you run the config.exe before launching CFS3?

And you sure did set the compatibility to "XP SP3" and run it as admin?

Cheers

Yes I set the compatibility to "XP SP3", that's why I'm here with this problem. And what I mean by 'not everything displays' is, when I run the game only parts of the menu show up, like only the ground for example. But that doesn't happen anymore, now the game won't open at all.

OK, try this:

- launch cfs3config.exe by rightclicking on it and choose "run as admin" (set compatibility to "XP SP3" and "run as admin" first)

- wait 'til you see the text "CFS3 has been configured" within this program

- Now click on "file" in the upper left corner, and then on "costum settings"

- now click on "window" in the upper left corner and choose "overrides"

- select "disable intromovie" and "Hi resolution Z-buffer"

- deselect "dual pass render" and click OK, click on "File" and click on "exit". Do not close the configprogram by the cross in th upper right corner, or the changes won't be saved!

Now fire CFS3 again and see what happens.

You might also try to put a mark in "disable movie ui" and/or "disable ui animations" and see if it helps.

Another suggestion is to delete to "uisel.xml" within the "appdata"-folder. DO NOT DELETE THE ONE IN THE CFS3 - ROOT FOLDER!

Well, that's it for now, hope anything helps!

Didn't work, I still get the same window. something about COMMON.DLL is missing or something like that.

If your CFS3 isn't modded, I would recomend a reinstall. Just Install to the same path again.

If its modded, rename your CFS3-folder to something like CFS3backup or something like that and install again. then copy over the common.dll from that install and try running it again.

Nope, I'm giving up. It's obviously not gonna work. :isadizzy::censored::banghead:

It works!!!!

Hello guys. Thanks for figuring out how to make a proper install in Win 7 (x86).
I really was on the edge of total madness. Flying and happy now.
