Does anyone know if cfs2 runs in xp with sp3 instead of 2? I'm looking to buy new old software for cfs2.

Thank you in advance:jump:

HI PJMack,

I run CFS2 on XP Pro SP3 with no issues. I upgraded from SP2 to SP3 shortly after 3 came out.

on the other hand......

I have a reasonably new computer and I run XP Pro with SP2 only. I've had problems with SP3 in the past, and must caution you that it may depend on what hardware you're running, or software you want to use with it, whether or not SP3 is a sure bet. at least that's been my experience.

Cheers:bump:

I am a little embarrassed.

I did a search of the forums because I remember that this very same question had come up in a thread some time ago. As it turned out, the thread was started by ME! It appears that I didn't upgrade from 2 to 3 right away but was hesitating.

Here is a link to that thread from November 2008.

There are quite few posts to it and maybe some further information of value for you PJMack.

Windows XP Sp3... Yes or No?

Good one.....

Good heads up Maskrider.

I recall now that I was running an Athlon processor and it gave me a lot of grief at that time.

What was your installation order?

For example, did you do a fresh install of Windows XP and then load Service Pack 3 or did you just install it over your current setup after you had installed all your other programs and games?

Hiya Stratobat......

As I mentioned, it was some time ago and I was using an Athlon processor......now? Intel, XP Pro SP2 and as someone said earlier, it don't need fixin'. Back in the day with my old Athlon, I believe I put it in after everything else was up and running on SP2.....things began to not work in a hurry.

I also use some good anti-malware software now AND good anti-virus software so don't feel the need for any more security.......

Thanks be to the God 'o Grinches that he doesn't need to convert me anymore, lol.....I'll stick with what I have now.

Hi all, I run Win XP sp3 on an old 32bit Athlon, I have no problems with it, but then I only use it to develop and run CFS2.

.
I have XP Pro SP3 on 2 towers (P4 & P3) & a laptop (P4) .... all run smooth as glass.

"if it ain't broke; don't fix it"

If there wasn't a problem ... then there wouldn't be a need for SP3 ... would there?

I used to hear the same thing about SP2 when it was new .... YEAH RIGHT!! ... NO ONE NEEDS A FIREWALL & enhanced security ... RIGHT???

I seem to recall that some users had problems installing SP2 (I think it was on certain HP units) but a patch was soon available.

I had some initial problems installing SP3 on my old Dell P3 (when first released) Reloading the o/s cured the problem along with Net Framework.

I have XP multimedia SP3 on an Intel core 2 duo rig and an AMD TurionX64 core 2 dou rig. Both run just fine!

Hey Alpha,

Back in the day with my old Athlon, I believe I put it in after everything else was up and running on SP2.....things began to not work in a hurry.

A lot of system instability problems can be negated by following the correct installation order.

1.) Windows XP
2.) Service Pack 3
3.) System Drivers
4.) Essential Programs
5.) Simulators
