WIPS for MV FG-1D

Hi,

Here are some cockpit pics of the MV FG-1D Corsair.

These are not renders and show exactly what you will see in game.

Note that there are several things that need fixing and adding.

1) the trim controls are not presently transparent
2) the right hand panel is missing several items which will be added shortly
3) the switch covers have no hinges

If you see anything else that's out of place, now is the time to point them out.

Thank you.

Kat

Hi again,

For some reason, the pics are not high resolution.

If you want them for perusal, please contact me by pm and I will send them along. Please include a valid email.

Thank you.

Kat

These sure look good!

If there is anything of interest to you folks from the Expansion Pack, please let me know. Though quite simple code, the implementation of throttle activated Water Injection, and cowl flap drag, were some of the items we added. Also the FDE, though based on Tom's, is highly refined as well.

The updates to the VC look great, Kat! All of the items I've wanted to see attention on (added gunsight detail, armor-plated glass, and canopy frame accessories (mirrors, release handles, etc.)).

As mentioned in another thread, you've been using this as a guide, and it is a superb guide, being one of the most authentically restored FG-1D's on the planet: http://www.airspacemag.com/panoramas/fg-1d-corsair-180953750/?no-ist

Furthermore, you'll find some additional details in photos of the cockpit in the restored FG-1D owned by Vintage Wings of Canada (former Gary Kohs), which is another of the most authentically restored FG-1D's, restored by the same company as the one on the airspacemag site. The VWoC FG-1D cockpit, unlike the Olympic Flight Museum example on the airspacemag site, has the rocket launcher control panel, just like the AF and MV Corsair cockpits.

More cockpit photos of the VWoC/Gary Kohs FG-1D can be seen here: http://www.martinsammodels.com/webpage/pages/Real Aviation/Walkarounds/Corsair/pictures/index.html

Is this an all new airplane or a remake of the A2A aircraft? Either way....looks awesome! Any chance a LATE model such as an F4U5N will be done?

Furthermore, here are some photos of the Royal Navy FG-1D preserved at the Fleet Air Arm Museum in Britain. It is the best-preserved FG-1D in existence, and the cockpit has never been restored - everything is original, down to the paint, placards, etc (although aged - it probably didn't look near as 'tired' during WWII). Some items are different (added clips, different throttle, different radio setup) from its time in Royal Navy service.

And finally, here are some additional photos from the cockpit of the Texas Flying Legends FG-1D, which like the previous two restorations mentioned, is another of the most authentically restored in existence.

Note the authentic throttle placard, indicating where the throttle must be set for starting, which is present on all of them (originally, and restored).

Note the large canopy-unlocking button linked to the canopy release mechanisms. The red-handles at the base of the canopy also aren't very long.

First overwhelming thought when you are in the Corsair for the first time, is "Holy cow this thing's big!"

I believe some FG-1D's, or at least FG-1A's, did have braced canopies (the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Museum FG-1D has always had a braced canopy). Some early F4U-1D's definitely did. And when I say 'braced canopy', I'm referring to the type as seen on the F4U-1A. The braced canopy seen on the restored FG-1D operated by the Texas Flying Legends Museum, was added to make it look like one of the earlier versions (which it really isn't), operating in the Pacific circa 1944.

All of the photos posted above, really just go to show how accurate the VC model is.
