Woohoooo A first for me

At age 63 I had my first ever helicopter ride today. Because of several bushfires burning in the Lithgow and Bathurst districts we had a shortage of support vehicles in which to travel to Glen Davis heli base so I had to go out by helicopter. The return trip was also by helicopter and was most enjoyable.

you know, i have to agree, but i can't really tell you why. at low altitude it's often safer to auto rotate than it would be to dead stick land in a fixed wing.

Yay! Good for you Pat! Your are lucky! I have always wanted to experience riding in an helicopter. Haven't found an opportunity yet.....
