I just spent a good hour roaming around the new London photogrammetry, and it is far better than the previous, and seems to be quite a bit more performance-friendly as well.

It's neat to see how far photogrammetry has come, to even model framework like this, as seen at construction sites, bridges, tops of buildings, etc...

I expect the update to World Update III was to prepare the sim for this Update. I did likewise and took a flight around London. Fabulous Photogrammetry.

London is a big improvement over how it was , Its also way bigger than before.
My house used to be just outside the photogrammetry but now its there in all its terraced glory (LOL) although it looks like someone's dumped huge pile of dirt in the road just round the corner.

I headed west down the Thames to see if I could find the limits but I only got as far as Hampton Court Palace before I decided to turn off and head for Northolt and the photogrammetry was still going.
The download page did say Greater London so that's a pretty big area. Being an old fart I still consider London proper to be the London postcode areas and no further.

Talking of the Thames the water masks could do with a bit of work, although stuff like piers and boats in the water are now above instead of below the water most of them look like there sitting on patches of land, also as I got further west there where quite a few water anomalies.

Speaking of updates I was just cruising around and there was lightning flashing away. No real increase in turbulence that I noticed, I wonder if this is part of the mandatory update

I've removed the ORBX London scenery and didn't notice any difference although I cant remember exactly what building where included in it.

I had deleted the "01" liveries from all planes when they first came out because they were hideous. I had to reinstall them for the Caravan and X Cub in order to get the World Update. The Caravan is still cringe-worthy, but either I missed the Cubcrafters livery before, or it has since been updated. The red-white-blue go-nuts-with-the-paintbrush scheme ain't half bad! I'll need to do a little exploring over London in the next few days. For now, my allergies are kicking my @$$. I'm going to go hit the couch and be a vegetable the rest of the night...

Here are some screenshots Flying along the Cliffs of Moher on the west coast of Ireland, which is one of the several regions of photogrammetry added with this latest World Update.

I did the same flight in the same plane last night! Also did a flight over London and Liverpool, what they have done is superb. The factory in Liverpool where I worked is there in all it's detail. Well done Asobo.

Can anyone advise how far west the Glasgow update goes? Away from home for a few days so can't check it out myself yet.
My house is just inside the freeware Glasgow scenery on .to, albeit as a building site. Would be cool to land on my driveway if it's within this update and based on more recent data.

Can any of my fellow Jimmies (or others!) confirm that the area to the immediate south of Edinburgh Castle is a mess? I get missing buildings, and obvious mesh issues. I have de-activated the ORBX mesh and regions. Otherwise, so far I love flying low in the Scout or Wasp over Edinburgh and Glasgow. Got to get down to London soon. Been a LONG time since I was in any of these cities in real life! Nearest photogrammetry city to me in real life now is Regina, Saskatchewan.

I've been exploring the upgraded airports and their surrounding areas and have been very impressed so far. I wish I could have done a "before" comparison prior to the update, but it certainly seems things are very much improved in the areas covered. I'm wondering if this update is kind of a preview of what we can expect World wide with MSFS2024...

Kenneth,

The update actually comes in three parts. One through the normal update screen when starting the sim, the other one in the marketplace and the last part in the content manager. Maybe your issues are because of that.

Cheers,

Jan

Hi Jan

I did not check the content manager, only the first two on your list. Will do so today and add an EDIT to this post with my findings. Thank you.

EDIT... No change. And Bomber_12th (below) has same issues...

Kenneth, I have a very straight MSFS install, with no addon sceneries in the immediate vicinity, and all of the world and city updates, and I noticed too that there is a small area immediately south of Edinburgh Castle, between the castle hill and George Heriot's School, which is not displaying properly - mostly flattened.
