world war I ends

SPman,

I make sure they do...that's part of my job! (History teacher extraordinaire...) :wavey:

It’s such a long time ago, I had my grandma’s mom until I was 11, but I was too young to ask. I only know that all my grandparents are afraid of any kind of war. I’m still sad that I didn’t have the opportunity and the interest to ask. We lived together with my grandparent and my grandma’s mom until I was 12. There were 3 more grandparent’s of that generation in my family, I just thought how much unquestioned knowledge has gone when they died? I think about that they grow up through the imperial time, lived through WW1, the economic depression, through the Nazi time, through WW2, the so called “economic wonder” after the last world war, the dividing of Germany… there is so much I would ask now, but all that knowledge is gone when they died.

Must've been a terrifying experience for them, Wolfi......I can't imagine. Glad there's at least one teacher left to tell the young ones what really happened in our world, good or bad.

Where I come from (Canada) there's a dearth of knowledge in regard to Canada's past military history, WWI and WWII, and it's purposely left out of our history books, why in God's name, I'll never know. such a shame!

So far about the Great War but when you look at the American Civil War 1861-1865 you still get the impression that the last word is not spoken about this war also. This is the impression you get when you read the YouTube comments which I did about this subject for the last two days.
