WRONG EFFECT POSITIONS

I think, in this case, it looks to me like you've got one big Damage Box that encompasses the whole object. No matter where you hit the object that FX is going to show up in the middle of the Damage Box.

Hi
The effect is outside the box. They all seem to be outside the box. Have to do some experiments with more smaller boxes if needed and location.Lots to learn.
Thanks for your reply.

Have you tried putting this object on land and doing the same? I know that often with Ships on water the FX get displaced. I know you've seen it, you hit a ship dead center and you see the FX way out to the side.....???

I will try that.
I have been wondering if there is a way to see the dps as the box then change them back
invisable. Is there an offset between gmax and dped. With object placement there always seem to be an ofset. When I place objects with AIRPORTFORWINDOWS I am always tweeking to get the object where I want.

On making your DP Visible, not that I've ever heard of.

The only offset there may be between them is one the developer created. If your visual MDL/BGL is way off center in the gmax scene and you create a DP based on the Center of the model there will be an offset. The DP Damage Box will be 10m Left of the visuale object.

Always Center your visual models. If you're making a long object that will have multiple parts (bgls) and you initialy create them in one scene, say a 100m pier with an End Cap that is going to be a separate bgl. Don't make the center of the End Cap the same as 100m long section. When you export the End Cap. Move it to the center of the Scene before Exporting it. Leaving it 100m off center can cause all kinds of problems.

Side Note. There also may be a Size issue. Setting the Size of an object incorrectly when compiling it can cause wierd things to happen in relation to the DP. I just remembered that a bit ago when I was thinking about the wierd stuff I'm seeing with those RAF Hangars.....

The objects are large.200m wide 300m long all attached, pivot point 0,0,0, dummy 0,0,0,
except for animated bridge.I will check size.
The DP Damage Box will be 10m Left of the visuale object. (YOUR QUOTE)
The effect is about 30m Right of the damage box. See pic.
I am going to make some small boxes with enginering sticks sticking out so people can see whats going on.I have made enginering rods to set a animated train on the land, worked well.
Lots to learn and tweek.
