What comprehensive book that covers WW II aircraft does any one recommend ? Have Jane's WW II fighting aircraft,WW II Fighting jets, all the Squadron/signal series, all schiffer military history series,Luftwaffe day/night fighters series,Fighters of the Luftwaffe and too much to list. Also many more on cd/dvd . What is your favorite books covering WW II aircraft-(any side) ? My favorite coffee table book has to be Flying Legends- Lowe & Hould Publishers. Could stand to to get more books on JAAF fighters-(hard to find any good ones). My favorite book has to be World War II Fighting Jets by Jeffrey Ethell & Alfred Price-(Airlife Publishing Ltd.). Also is there a good website for military history books that any one would recommend ? Thanks for any suggestions . Happy new year!!!!!

WWII Aircraft Book Question

Hi Sixstrings5859,

If You want a book covering most of the WWII Aircraft; the best for a general overview is "Illustrated Enclyopedia of Combat Aircraft of World War II by Bill Gunston", it's available at "Thrift Books " at the moment for $4.39-----I think mine cost me just on $30.00 .

If you specifically are after Japanese Aircraft ---the best book that I know of is "Japanese Aircraft of the Pacific War " by Rene' Francillon.

Regards and Best Wishes for A Happy New Year ,
