Wednesday at 9pm Eastern US time....a one hour show on NOVA. This is probably a repeat. Still, the PBS write-up sounds interesting.

THANX for the heads up, on what looks a to be an informative and entertaining documentary. For those that are interested in the era, attached link to a UTube clip, featuring an awesome air display of a Fokker DR.I replica. Like the original DRIs, this one has a spinning rotary engine, and the pilot really puts the airframe through it's paces.

Hopefully they will do a better job then what the History channel did. I hate seeing the same footage over and over.

Nova is normally realy good. I'll set the DVR.
 
This was different BH. All about a team of modern day airplane builders in NZ constructing and flying exact replicas of WWl machines. More the history of the early observation aircraft than combat aircraft. It goes into the early employment of these AC in surveying the battlefield and also some of the first efforts to mount guns on these machines. It was too short a show to get into much detail. Most of the footage was color of the replicas. It was quite interesting.
