You won´t be disappointed. With a decent rig and after getting used to differences when comming from FSX, it looks and feels great. And it keeps just getting better with all the further input from "Laminar".
Well i hope you do get back into it.but wasnt X-plane solely for macs at one time? i have a dr long ago who was a pilot, but he hadnt flown in a long time,so i suggested he try FS9 ,he had a mac and said he'd found X-plane.first id ever heard of it. i might be all wet,but that is the conversation he and i had ,,lol.
If you read through the forums at http://www.x-plane.org/ you will find that many people are using X-Plane 11 on Mac. You can probably find out how well it runs, etc. Personally, I am running it on a Windows machine and I love it! I run a three monitor setup which pretty much prohibits great FPS in P3D, but X-Plane 11 has graphic settings for multiple monitors and performance is great. As has already been stated X-Plane is a constant WIP, but the update process is "Head and Shoulders" above the update process of P3D. I hope that you will download the Demo and give it a try!
