X56 Joystick and throttle woes

Hi All,

I purchased the X-56 Hotas, and it seems incompatible with FS9. I went in and remapped all the basic controls I use flaps trim ect. but I cant seem to get the hat switch to map correctly. When I go into the sim it pans straight up and I cant move it. when I go into the cockpit view, it just rotates up and over in a 360 degree sweep. when I look at the config it shows nothing setup for panning or anything. On my old joystick I remember having to use FSUIPC to get the pan to work right. Could this be the culprit? I dont see anything in FSUIPC to configure.

Thanks,
Sean

I don't use FSUIPC to set up or calibrate controllers.
Try going into OPTIONS>CONTROLLERS directly from FS9.
You'll know what FS is seeing and whether you should do a calibration.

I use the stick from a X-56 in both FSX and P3D (the throttle died a while back and I use a pair of Saitek throttle quadrants now). I program everything (I also have a car racing switch box and rudder pedals) in FSUIPC EXCEPT FOR the hat switch which I assign as a view switch in the sim controls section in both FSX and P3D. For some reason that is the only way I can get the silver hat switch to work correctly. The two black hat switches adjacent to the silver one I have assigned as 4-way switches in FSUIPC.

Hope that helps.

Update: I remapped the pan commands to the other hat and that has made it a little better, but it still pans to the top looking straight down in the external view. I can move it but it defaults back to the default looking straight down at the top of the aircraft and in cockpit view it is looking straight up . I can look around but it defaults back to looking straight up through the top of the aircraft or canopy.

If it is an 'unpaid' FSUIPC, you cannot assign any keys at all.
FSUIPC is now free, & the credentials are on their site.
I'm using a CHProducts yoke as well as a joystick, & have found that FSUIPC is great to assign & 'tune' keys.
I was using pedals, but since my accident 3 years ago, where I lost my leg, I've found that using only a single foot to control rudders just does not work all that well.

For me, I found FSUIPC works well, if all keys are deactivated in the sim & FSUIPC controls them all. There are also far more keys to play with.
A good example is that the sim uses 'G' for gear up & down, with FSUIPC, different keys can be set.

Anyway, that's my experience with FSUIPC.

If you have not registered FSUIPC; (taken from the site)
