Yakovlev Yak-1 series 43 to 65
Unit: 1 GvIAP sometime in 1942
Pilot: unknown

The Yakovlev Yak-1 was the first variant of the Yak fighter aircraft family. Early production Yakovlev fighter aircraft were among the greatest piston-engine fighters created during World War II, despite often being overshadowed in media by their Western counterparts. The Yakovlev bureau created the Yak-1 in response to a Soviet government request in 1938 for a fighter made mostly of wood for ease of maintenance...

Fantastic Yak-1 Captain! Thank you! This is certainly a modern and wonderful stablemate to Thicko's Yak-1.

Any chance for any other Yaks in the pipeline? ;)

If fo0lks are looking for a sound pack. I'd recommend either Lawdog's Hispano Suiza, or the his P-40.

Great work Kurt - thanks very much! :applause:

Lawdog did sounds for the LaGG-3 which used the same Klimov engine as the Yak.

I'm afraid that would be next to impossible o_O:p. There were some 39 major marks built and over 1000 modifications during the long run of continious production. Some 14 would qualify as major production marks. Thicko and Bruno Duffort provided a number of these already; the early Yak-1, Yak-1B, Yak-7A, early Yak-9, Yak-9T, and late Yak-9U.

I'm working on the Yak-9D, the second most produced version. There's still a lot of shapes refinements, small details, controls and animations yet to do before I can begin painting. After that, I don't know if I will do any more Yaks.

This Yak-9D looks promising :applause: And yeah, there are so many variants of the Yak's aircrafts it can get really confusing, even more with those variants like P, R, T, U, etc :dizzy::dizzy: Even the modern Mig-29 and Su-27 families can be confusing with all their variants...
