Yay, new video card...

Hmmm I'm running CCC 9.3 and no problems so far.....:friday:

Persistent Problem.

Tried reinstalling the Cat 9.3 to no avail.

- Edit: I like my post count... :d

Maybe your video card is overheating all of a sudden... for some reason. Sort of looks like it.

Temps were monitored the whole time during the preceding benchmark runs. They never exceeded 43°C on both memory and GPU.

Also, as mentioned before, other games work fine.

Things I've tried so far:
- New DirectX
- Reinstalled monitor driver
- Fresh fsx.cfg

You did not tweak your FSX.cfg with that "miracle fix"?

Blow away your FSX.cfg and restart FSX.

Nice Flugtipp.

If it happens after you fly for a while, i would test with reduced scenery settings.
Did you use DriverCleaner (lastes version) to get rid of Nvidia (all NV entries)?
You can also experiment with the ATI settings.. less AA, advanced Catalyst AI etc.
Do you use any CFG tweaks? If so try it without them.

Reinstallation process...

RTM: Works.
SP1: Works.
SP2: Nope.

Seems I've got a wee problem here...

I have trouble with SP2 also..It has taken several reinstalls of it to get it correct for unknown reason...

I deleted the config..Cleaned the regestry...Defragged, then installed SP2 before it was right...Three tries to get there too...

I hope yours gets fixed ...

Now that I think about it, I recently had some vaguely similar problems in other games after updating my drivers. In my case FSX was fine, but FarCry2 and Crysis looked very weird. I had some blocky strangeness going on sort of like in your images above, along with missing shaders and all sorts of stuff like that.

What I ended up doing was uninstalling all my video card drivers, then booting into safe mode and running Driver Cleaner (you could use Driver Sweeper too though, as that one is still free) to flush everything out. I then booted back to Windows, and denied XP from installing any card drivers when it detected them and reinstalling the latest drivers manually. After a restart I had the same problems, so I redid the process and went back to my last known good driver and after that and my problems were solved.

For you, maybe it's a similar combination of your system being in need of a good proper driver sweeping and a slightly older driver that agrees with your rig. Newest is not always the best.

I'm gonna try a Windows reinstallation.

After all, there *might* be two or three things left here from the NVidia driver.

When you uninstalled, did you check if the folder containing the "shaders" was gone as well ?
I mean, since this stuff is "compiled" on first lauch, maybe it needs to be recompiled to work with another video card ?

I guess I'm lucky. I got the Gold Edition with the Acceleration DVD that included SP1 and 2, so I didn't have to download and install each separate.

If all else fails, find the Gold Edition of FSX and use it, no snafus from MS to deal with.

Can't be your card, I have two 8800s in an SLI hook up.

The shaders can be recreated upon FSX startup, so I've already tried that.

Trying RTM on a fresh Windows now, fingers crossed...

FSX SP2 on a fresh Windows - working.

Relief - indescribable.

Someone in a geman FSX forum said that the /3Gb and /UserVA switches might have had something to do with this.

Time for investigation...
