YB-40 for CFS2??

I've been searching around for a YB-40 version of the Flying Fortress and can't seem to find one for any flight sim let alone CFS2. Anyone heard of a YB-40 being done. I tried looking in most of the usual plane locations and no joy.

Here's some good info for those not too familiar. The planes were not in service for long but an interesting concept.

Looking to go on the Doll............

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TLYioRY4i4

Nope................ haven't seen one but...........

Found this from Battlefield 1942...............

I hadn't heard of it either................to bad they couldn't make it go faster .....................

but..............faster means more fuel........more fuel means bigger tanks.............etc..........

so we get the B-29.......man I like olive drab camo.............isn't this one sweet.................

I used to fly the Sky Queen for cfs2 by C. Rosenmann.....but didn't come in olive drab........

see Gnoopy's B-29 stuff..............best yet

I always wonder if they didn't think of the b-29 auto cannons pods when they wrote the fighter attack on the milinieum (spell?) falcon in the original star wars

Ha.........UB-40 now I get it...............

Sorry ......side tracking

I am notorious side tracker................................

The YB-40.............probably need to crack out the FSDS or Gmax and build one....................but.........will have to assume the skunk works fixed the overloading problem and a sooooooper blower on the radials of the old b-17 with some lighter ...............................
..............top secrets JP-soooooper duty.......

Now..............if you are a precision bombing addict....................

I never posted the Tokori Sky Queen run................

Get out your best bomb sight load up Sky Queen and install the Tokori bridges..................

B-29's were still used in the Korean Theater.

So try and take out one of the Tokori Bridges from 10,000 with flak and some migs harrassing you. The real challenge is flying .......not down the Tokori Valley ........but perpendicular...................

Another Stream of Conciousness.....

For new simmers......................or if you haven't tried it........

B-17 The Mighty 8th....................was the, by far, best B-17 sim out there...................Microprose................

Best mission planning.......Best Norton Bomb Sight...................Best start up ........Best 109 attack...........etc.......if you can find it .......buy it.........

However..........it does bring to your attention the old flyers motto....................Hours of Boredom ..........Punctuated by a few minutes of Terror......

The missions are long and boring with out acceleration..........and still they are Tedious. Furthermore, you have the actual problem of cloud cover over target and visually spotting the target thru the Norton from altitude........wind......... drift........etc............
Intial point issues...........then if you miss .............you have to suffer flak ....fighters on the way out............you have wounded gunners, pilots, and radio men you have to take care of. Operate radio
............ok.........you get the idea..............and I am preaching to the choir......for most of you.

However, B-17G's but No XB-40 ..............

Rockster,

I actually dug up that game today along with another game: Gunship! I've been reading the manual and actually remembering how fun it was to play, and it's actually not a bad simulator at all!

I remember hitting my first target... I was bombing the sub pens at Lorient. I actually hit them... before my bomber lost outboard starboard engine. And I flew the damn thing home on three... through flak... couldn't stay with the formation though.

TOTALLY BUY THIS GAME!!! This is NOT an attempt to overthrow CFS-2... it's just another sim to shake things up a little...:costumes:

Great B-17 sim, particularly for navigators and bombardiers. Continually patching up wounded crewmen detracted from the overal sim experience though.

Rockster -
The XB-40 was in 1942. The Lockheed "Skunk Works" didn't emerge until the early Fifties. It was named, curiously enough, from a place that Raytheon Engineers ate their lunch in Concord, MA.

B-38

Ya.................I know...........................

What I meant was, one would have to (FSDS ....aka your own personel "skunk works") put it thru an imaginary secret upgrade.........air file....aircraft.cfg..............to have it keep up with the bomber formation..........since that is what killed the XB-40...............

In the process...........................I found this inline engine version.........and B-29 style gun turrent

again, you have probably seen it............ B-38??? maybe they were trying to boost the juice.......of the B-17???

YB-40????

I don't know, I guess because it is better than 20.................:d

I know, I'll go back to my room now....:costumes:

I think we lost Prairie_flcn

Sorry Prairie_flcn, I hope we haven't beat you around the shoulders..................

U Gotta jump back in .................I don't think we have a YB-40 or else someone would have corrected the smart a3$%#^'s here by now.

Problem is, this probably has been discussed. All of the above. But, the forum has crashed many times now. So, we loose track of what gone on before. So we have refresher coarses every now and then.

DD...........something about putting in old games. They are still amazing!

The effort design teams have gone thru to makes these sim's. B-17 The Mighty 8th ...........had real B-17 crew as design consultants. If you have made the round trip in the sim...............you know somewhat what it was really like. And yes...........it was long and agonizing. I liked it............but am not looking to go back on another run soon..................it lets you imagine what it was like .......and would you be able make those runs for real................over and over.

I never had the Atari version.................must have been a simpler, version???

So YB-40 .........YKnot .....(why not.....) .......IB stoppin

Allison V-1710-81 engines

B-38 had the Allison V-1710 engines...........................

Most of you recognize the P-40 look ....shark mouth......................

Boeing Lockheed Vega Strapped 4 warhawks to the B-17.........

Ya.................I know...........................

It was for improved version of the B-17, and a variant that could be used if air-cooled R-1820 Radial Engines became scarce.

Identify Military Vehicles ...............

Ok.................I am really bored...............

Military intelligence...............photo recon..........or where's Waldo........

But, if you didnt already..............can you pick out make and model of military sedans in this B-38 shot.........

If your really bored.........figure out the vehicle and bicycle near guard shack..........

Hint: Military Boy's and Girls aren't driving this years model

Hey Jagd!

I find it interesting that you actually didn't like the fact that you had to keep mending guys that were wounded... I'm kind of wondering why because I actually thought that added to the realism of the game...

Ok.........I take a stab at it.........

????? I don't know the answer ...........I just posed the question

This is my first guess (uneducated....)

B-38 ...........was created about 1943

1935 dodge touring sedan??
