Yeovilton pics

Wow!
Some stunning pictures there Ian :salute:
Thank you very much for sharing!
That museum has been on my to-do list since my return to Britain. You couldn't give it any better advertising....

Kind regards, Stuart

The Phantom is XT596, a YF-4K pre-production prototype variant that spent all its working life as a test hack with Bae. Got the lowest flight hours of any of the UK Phantoms!
I fitted complete new windscreen and quarterlight set to it during its last major overhaul before it was retired @ 1989;
so that's my handiwork on display!!

Nice Photos. Ian.
Thanks for sharing.

You wouldn't be thinking of working some of your magic on Yeovilton by any lucky chance, would you Ian?

well as a formerly qualified long range marksman i'm stumped and i'm used to picking up on VDM's (thats Visual Distinguishing Marks)... do we get a clue? :icon_lol::icon_lol:

... seriously, after a days profile work i go blind as a bat and am forced to put the glasses on (hate the damn things! although they are nice Tag Heuer frames :icon_lol:)

back on track... i really have to get to Yeovilton sometime...

Do that, Matt - Yeovilton used to be my regular aviation haunt - I love that place.
Years ago, your visit was almost certainly rewarded with the Sea Fury, Firefly or Swordfish on a check flight or all three departing for an airshow.

The museum was sensational - that's where I fell in love with the big American radial CATS!
Big, staunch, beautifully engineered, carrierworthy babies towering over the FA birds.

When I was at secondary school in Torquay during the early '70's, we'd get a Camberra flyover every Thursday as regular as clockwork (undersurfaces yellow/black diagonal stripes).

A REALLY extra treat would be the appearance of a Sea Vixen - man what a lorry of a crate!

love the Sea Vixen... but then again i love those early twin boom jets....

last time i was at Yeovilton the SHARs and HARs were having fun there as i was 'fence-sitting'... i like the South-West, nice bit of country beats the Midlands by a long shot... but neither compare to Mother Ελλάδα, she is to me as the national motto says "
Ελευθερία ή Θάνατος"

:icon_lol::icon_lol:

back to Yeovilton, think i might go fly some SHARs or HARs off the ramp...
