Yo Rami! A small preview of the Italian sceneries

Gius,
Moving FSrails into CFS2 would be awesome. It is a bit beyond my abillities. I get a headache just trying to get it setup.

I'd be willing to help. I just can't take the lead on this one.

Kdriver,
Those maps are great. I'd love a set as well.

Kelti,
Don't you know its not nice to tease. Make us wait all summer. Well maybe thats payback for how long you had to wait for mine stuff. Which reminds me, I have more to do.

Till Later,
John

Blood_Hawk,
Thanks for the offer. Now i'm involved in several Cfs2 projects, but, when i'll start with FSRail, surely i'll mail you. This prog, anyway, is really difficult to set up, i've tried it some times ago...
Best Regards,
Gius

Yeah I have a few to many "Irons in the Fire" myself. I just need to focus on one and do it.

FSrails isn't to hard to setup. But working with in it is the issue I'm having. If we could add a background image it would be a lot easier. I was thinking of using the APIs in FSSC to make each of the rail yards. Then maybe use FSrail to add the track to link the yards. For now I've put it on the shelf.

maybe once we all get some extra time we could group together and figure it out.

till later,
John

I agree. I've also retextured in high resolution some of the tracks API and the result is good. We must study better the documentation when we'll have more time. My first priority has always been to do an help to fill the empty Cfs2 world with good and frame friendly scenery!!
Bye,

Hi Stef, John & Kurt,

The map set is 43 mb in size - a bit too large for emailing, so I've uploaded it to my OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive).

I'll send you the link.

Kevin

Rog that! :encouragement:

Capt. Kurt:

It just dawned on me that the San Pancrazio scenery you built is the very same airfield where "Liberandos" B-24s of 512th BS, 376th BG, 15th AF, took off exactly 70 years ago yesterday for their bombing mission over the marshalling yard of my hometown Fidenza.

Not a date to celebrate because of all the people, civilians and aviators alike, who lost their lives on that May 13th, 1944 afternoon, yet another date to remember, least we forget and mankind repeats the tragedy of WWII.

Cheers!
Stef

Yes the 82nd fighter group was only there for a short while, moving out to make room for the heavies.

I am on the road for qork right now and won't be back home until Saturday night. I will try to get emails to you this Sunday. :running:

Fine, I'll get it on Monday! :jump:

Dvslats:

Are you attacking Piacenza-San Damiano or are you flying from it? It was bombed heavily by the Allies on 14th and 25th May, 1944. It was used by the Luftwaffe as a pilot training base from 1942 to 1944 and a unit flying FW190F was based there.
In March of 1945, coincidental to the Allied push to overtake and move over the Gothic Line, whatever structure survived the bombings was destroyed completely by the retreating Germans with explosives.
Rebuilt in 1954 by the Italian Air Force, it became a NATO base in 1963.

If you download and install Captain Kurt's ETO repaints for CFS2 stock hangars and other objects here:

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=12690

this and all of the other layouts I did will definitely look much better and more historically sound!

Kdriver:

I took the liberty to forward your MTO Airfield Location Map to Achim. I cannot think of a better source for CFS2 scenery building since all the vital info as coordinates, runway orientation and airbase layout are all there.
The way you find airfield information is simply amazing, I wish Achim had this library a while ago, all the corrections needed now would be necessary!

Cheers!
Stef

Hi Stef,

I didn't know about Captain Kurt's Europe textures. Will download asap.

Also, thanks for the history. Knowing that really gives your scenery the ambiance in the sim.

Cheers, Dave

PS, When this screenshot was taken I was flying around looking for the fuel dumps.
They're not so easy to find. :friendly_wink:

In my WWI scenery I made the grass a different color. that way you can find it.

I think we might be able to do some trains via FS Rail for CFS2 sure would be nice. they were an essential part of WWII infrastructure and a primary target for both sides.

Pen discovered, and fixed, the Gary20's RAF objects bug, which I found plagues also Xavierb2's objects, particularly his ETO hangars and some of his warehouses.

Hi Stef,

When you have some time, could you please list the Xavierb2 objects that were troublesome?
Particularly the ETO hangers.

My PTO install needed a fix that was done in scasm for his "metal hanger_1". It showed disappearing sections and was nasty on frame rates. It was a size/scale issue also.
Possibly his others could be fixed in the same manner. :icon_idea:

Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave! :wavey:

Disappearing sections (particularly when panning the camera horizontally on the ground or even when doing a flypast in external view) from either side of the screen and heavy fps is the sure diagnosis for size/scale issues. Another way to tell is shooting bullets/rockets at them. If the projectiles go right through without causing any damage, the bug is there.

As I wrote several times, it's the very same bug Pen32Win found (and fixed) in Gary20's BoB/RAF buildings library. The apparent impossibility to damage RAF hangars sparked Pen's curiosity, which lead him to develop his fix.

The problem is that I have no idea how to recompile Xavier's objects to apply the same cure, I never worked with SCASM. I am understanding you did it for his "metal hanger_1", perhaps you could do it to the rest of the collection and share your upgrade.

So far, I found this problem in all of Xavier's Japanese wooden and European concrete hangars. The same goes for the majority of his warehouses. I am not sure about his seaport infrastructures and fort elements, while some of his tents seem ok his barracks disappear too. Do you want me to be more precise? I'll have to set up a specific test scenery using all of Xavier's objects and fly over them.

Cheers!

That all the information I really need KH. :encouragement:
No need to set up a test scenery. Thanks.

I will go through Xavier's Japanese wooden and European concrete hangars first and see if it it's the same issue. Archisoft (Ivan Hsu) has a good set up in mdlc for breaking down the library bgl's into single ones.
Then they can be worked on easier.
Thanks Again, Dave
