Your favorite port-overs...

Some don't and some do...port-over Fs9 aircraft into FsX I mean. I have a few favorites that I keep in a separate hangar called Port-overs ironically. Gauges go into the aircraft's panel folder and as a rule I don't put Fs9 effects, textures or sounds into FsX to prevent overwriting any FsX native versions.

Here's one of my favorites the Golden Age Simulations QCF-2 seen here in PNW Central Rocky Mountains.

Well that's fine...but quite a few do! So what are your favorites, especially those that perform especially well in FsX?

I'd use portovers, but for my jets, the engines don't start or won't stay started, and I missed what I have to do for the canopies. Adjust the alpha? I've tried using planes that were supposedly updated to be ported over, but they never worked for me. Like the Coral F-15, and KO's Mirage F-1, and his last F-16 that he made for the guy who makes the RADAR gauges. Maybe this weekend I'll get to trying the port-over of the F8 Sabre. I miss flying those birds.

Darkening the alpha usually helps. With props I make them almost invisible to avoid the props behind the clouds syndrome. Some of the earliest FsX upgraded models were adapted to work pre sp2/acceleration and consequently suffer the usual problems in FsX/A or SP2.

I am with you Roger, the GAS Wacos are such a joy to fly. My personal favorites are the ASO and CTO. I think Paul mentioned sometime that they had a native Waco or two in the works.

that particular plane is my favorite port over also Roger...I just wish there were a few more paints for it.

I have the Texaco and the White w/Black trim - But I would love to see it in a Yellow / Cream two-tone w/ black trim

Getting to be fewer and fewer port overs for me as many of my favorites have now been done in native FSX, but still have a few like the MAAM Avenger and a few of Jen's like the DC-4.

I run DX10 all the time as my computer just runs FSX so much smoother that way and nearly all the ports continue to work well using Addon Converter X, http://www.flightsimtools.com/adconvx/. Nearly always works, converts on the fly.

cheers,
steve :wavey:

If I remember right, there were issues with the glass, the usual with the prop, but also some holes in the panel. Using that Addon Converter thing, it just pretty well works, even in DX10.

Now this is one of those threads which is really useful and can inspire others to re-examine forgotten gems in the younger sim. For me personally, I like a load of Miltons and Piglets in FSX but I always end up going back to the Fischer Ju-52.
