YSTW Tamworth

Hmmmm the downloads actually run from my CDN servers and should be lightning fast, there have been some DNS problems in the last week here in Aussie though. I apologise if your download is slow. With the ever growing demand there can always be a weak link in a servercase somewhere. Now even though I am not FSS staff I do know Adrian personally and I think it is an unfair statement to say he has a big mouth. We are always on the lookout for better, faster and more. Anyway, I am not here to start a flamewar, just giving your my opinion and I respect yours :)

EDIT: I just tested the download, coming in at an average speed of 922k/bps, so definitely not too bad

It has to be said mate, with these size files, it doesn't surprise me that there are slow downloads on the first few days following release. The same thing happened with Aerosoft when they released RoF.

Having said that, this is simply an amazing scenery package. Yes it slows down when everything is maxed out, but I wouldn't expect anything less. It's simply jaw droppingly good!

Hi Ben,
if you don't maximize the settings of YSTW and FSX and if you have a similar PC like i have, you should be able to run it smoothly in most situations. What are your computer specs?

I haven't set my scenery complexity slider to Extremely Dense, so my images are missing some details. Knowing the shortcomings of FSX, the design decision, to have this scenery complexity setting at the maximum, is the only thing i don't like.

Intel Q9300 OC @ 3300kHz
4 GB Kingston RAM
ATI 4870 X2 2GB Display

Complexity slider - Very Dense
Autogen - Normal

By the way Tamworth and Aerosoft Discus is on my shopping list. Just need to figure out CumulusX.

.
I've just uploaded a series of Tamworth screenshots taken this morning, to my website. They are mainly of the airport itself, rather than the included surroundings.

Please click on the following picture to be taken to the gallery.

Allow a couple of seconds for the background images to load, before clicking on the thumbnails.

I think JustFlight released an FSX version, I could swear I read that...

Nice shots Nic...I installed it and the scenery is nuthin but sweet...best detailed scenery I have ever seen for FSX..will post some shots later on....got the grand kids over all day...Mike

They released an FSX version, and I did a few paints in 2048 x 2048 textures.
Make sure you check those out, I'm still very proud of my ZU-DES paintjob..

Yes I realised I'd got the plane in my files, but for some reason not installed.

You don't happen to have the file name to hand do you Jan, it would aid my SOH library search.

The screenshots are very impressive but there is always one little thing which prevents me from buying any ORBX airports:

The use of the default FSX runway.

Nick C's screenshot gallery provides a nice pic of the runway showing incorrect touchdown zone markings. In Australia the standard is two parallel small rectangles, two parallel large rectangles and two parallel small rectangles which as far as I know are used in every major airport. FSX afcads do not support these markings so if you want accurate markings you need to make them yourself.

It just seems such a shame that ORBX spend so much time and effort on making such a pretty airport and then ruin it with inaccurate runways :( . After all the runway is the most important bit of ground in the whole airport.
