I've just uploaded Sopwith's wonderful new BoB skin for my Bf110C. Also included in the package is a slightly shined MDL file that compliments the new skin beautifully. :jump:

Sopwith always seems to get it just right! :applause:

Should be available for download this evening. :wavey:

Thanks TR and Sopwith. This will get a lot of use! Has anyone reworked the DP to take the edge off the rear gunner?

Don't you dare touch...

Has anyone reworked the DP to take the edge off the rear gunner?

...that DP! :karate:

If you can't face a realistic rear gunner like a man, change your Settings to Player Invincible, but leave my DP alone. :costumes:
(His name is Enn VonTrappe, a world-class skeet shooter from Bavaria...and he's got your number.)

You're a victim of the fighter pilot myth that they could only be shot down by another fighter.....their egos won't let them admit that gunners shotup many a fighter in the BoB......back in the day when those fighters were shooting little .303s in a scattergun pattern of un-harmonized fire and had to get in close to do some damage. :monkies:

BTW: The 110 does have breakable parts (wings and tail parts), BUT it is not a Zero and does not come apart when you look at it hard. The damage boxes are tough enough to require some realistically destructive fire to start breaking this sturdy German fighter. It pretty much takes harmonized .50 cal or 20mm to do the job. :wave:

I took von Trappe's gold schuetzen schnur away and gave him the bronze award. That has reduced his homicidal tendencies somewhat, but he's still busting my ego on a regular basis!

Well, it may be true that gunners scored lots of hits on RAF fighters in the BoB, but 110 losses from June 1940 to Sept 1940 really put paid to their reputation.

Don't....

...get serious on me now. I just don't want you turning the Bf110 into a defenseless little sitting duck. :costumes:

Poor Enn. His libido will never recover from having his golden schuetzen schnur repoed. ( You're heartless; heartless I tell you. It's in violation of the US Army Field Manual....you've made Enn 'uncomfortable'. ):faint:

Well, far be it for me to give his kerstoopen a rebore. There can be few things more uncomfortable. Imagine trying to take aim when you're crosseyed!
:friday:

CFS2 AI ain't so bright...they don't handle head-on or front quarter attacks very well against a skilled player. You can kill this one quicker and cleaner if you can stay in front on a neutral basis with B-Z high side, overhead or straight head-on assaults. With these passes, your aim should only be focused on two things: choose ONE engine or the living quarters only. Kill an engine and she's at least a sitting duck if not already in a death spiral. Kill the pilot on first pass...again, a death spiral. Kill the gunner on first pass...the b*tch is all yours from any angle :typing:

Had the pleasure of rediscovering CFS1 again over the past month and i was totally captivated by the advanced programming of the AI opponents under Ace settings...so much more aggressive and calculating than in CFS2, especially in front quarter attacks. They'll certainly make you pay in head-on passes if you get sloppy, much more than in CFS2. The only problem is that with QC, its always one on two, three, four or whatever. You can't bring any buddies to the fight....

That's the ticket...

...a good kerstoopen job will definitely downgrade Enn's aim....without resorting to castrating the DP. Simply brilliant. :amen:

Very true...on...

The mount's a flexible MG 15, ...MV ~ 730m/s, ...effective range ~ 160m.

Figuring they'll miss 2/3 anyway, ...and that projectiles slow down...

; Upper Gun: 7.92mm(MG 15)
gunstation.2=1,52,2,0.165,620,0.258,0.01,160,1,60,1d1*2.7,0,0.69342,-3.113532,-5,0,180,-45,45,45,-5,1.07

And there is an extra gun in the [guns] section that needs to be deleted:

[guns.2]
gun.0=1000,0,0.66,1,0,0,1,1000
gun.1=300,0,0.66,1,0,0,1,300 (delete this line)

This is my std. single flex MG 15 rear gunner for the Bf110 and He-111H-5.

Enjoy.

I remember having fun in the Poland campaign some years ago.

I want to play it again one day with my now enhenced European install.

Also, a better Bf 110 is needed for that, because the one by James Grimes took some frames.

Seems this new Bf110 is the one needed for that!

:ernae:

PS: Little historical advise: The right side code should read just as the one on the left:

M8+CN (C in red) or
M8+CP (C in yellow)

Sopwith, I am wondering about the "L" on your skin? According my information, the "three wasps" logo was introduced under II./ZG 1.
If so, the yellow code should end with a "P"?!

Further, the place of the swastika is interesting. Many planes already flown in 1939 still wore the old one in the center of the fin.
New planes of 1940 had it replaced more forward, probably because it was easier to paint without the rudder.

You guys just....

...can't quit messing around with my rear gunner can you? How about cutting Enn** some slack. :faint::isadizzy: :costumes:

** The real Enn was my playmate when I was 5-6 years old. He lived across the street and no one would play with him because he was a German and his father had been a Luftwaffe pilot during the war. (The dad was employed by Consolidated-Vultee in an engineering capacity.) Raising Cain about being allowed to play with Enn was my first rebellion against the establishment. When you mess with Enn, you're treading on thin ice. :wave:

:gossip: PS John, I understand why you stopped posting your work.
