Got me chasing more information about the bird to get some good operating and pilot handling notes. A good weight and balance graph would be great to find as would detailed speeds fuel charts etc. Off we go.
If you hit <shift +="" 5=""> (SHIFT + 5) when the aircraft has loaded into the sim you will find a copy of the original Pilot's Operating Handbook which contains most if not all of the info you are looking for.</shift>

Jan, as usual great work on the paints. But a very special thanks for doing the TAA paint, that very one completes my collection of TAA aircraft and authentic TAA paint schemes.
The Mallard it seems had a very short life with TAA and only lasted 6 months, probably less really. Have not found out the real reasons why, there was a reference to Brampton Island sea conditions being unsuitable, not sure for that time of the year is generally very calm. Could have been a water current speed issue and or wind speed issue in some spots on that part of the Queensland coast you can have sea currents running at up to 10 knots plus so 5 at least would not be uncommon. Probably the real reason is that there was the usual promise of traffic serving routes in the holiday resort sector in competition with Ansett but traffic numbers would not justify continuing. TAA serviced the nearby coastal cities and towns very well already with F27's, DC3's etc.
See post 45 and 46, I use rudder pedals but I still changed to those numbers and it turns well when taxiing. This thing also has the "invisible" water rudder to use while taxiing on water.The last several sim ops with this lovely machine has given me two similar but differently presented problems re control and or trim. I am familiar with the bilge pump system and the float tanks.
The problem commences on the ground, gear down no flaps. The aircraft commences taxying normally with power and then appears to stick like the brakes are on and is almost impossible to turn to the left with differential braking and requires nearly full assymetric power on one engine to get it to turn. Once airborne the aircraft wants to roll to the right and a lot of opposite in this case left aileron input is required to hold it level, relaxing the pressure causes the aircraft to roll badly.
Same again today, commences normally, then will not turn left with either assymetric braking or without almost full assymetric power from one engine. Same issues airborne.
Aircraft remains controllable and a take-off and landing and water landing can be accomplished. No amount of rudder input will correct the out of trim issue, and the bilge pumps are empty and only mains fuel full.
I noted that on one weight and balance change or payload change to remove passengers and unwanted fuel that the diagram or graph in FSX indicated a right of centre line displacement which would cause a roll to the right, no matter how many times I add in or take out pax or fuel it remains out of trim on the longitudinal axis. Weird.
Any idea?
