My UH-60L Flight Video

I finally got off my backside and bought the Cera Sim UH-60L this past weekend. I've always been impressed by it's visual appearance and the moderately articulated systems depth, and it's sounds are pretty much spot on (this I know from my time refueling many of the real UH-60's many moons ago). I have to admit, I am not one that really gravitates towards rotorcraft and generally, I feel awkward and raw skilled flying one in FSX/P3D. I did log a very short amount of time in a real R22 some time ago and even though the instructor (who is a close friend of mine) stated that I was a "Natural" in picking up on how to handle a chopper, I was still unimpressed and I dare say a bit unnerved at what could go wrong with one. As such, I am not a huge FSX/P3D Helicopter guy. Most of my chopper models stay in the hangar with almost zero use except on a rare blue moon but I decided to make the jump on this model. Overall, I am okay with it but I did feel the need to beat a few of the dents out of the Cyclic and Collective Pitch Authority/Sensitivity to better suit my liking. To me, the two most glaring issues with the FDE is the lack of control authority in the Cyclic and Collective, especially if you dump the collective, it just hangs there like it's hung on a cable when in fact, it should drop like a rock! Oh, I also learned very quickly to NOT ATTEMPT AN AUTO-ROTATION!!! I think Cera Sim could have better tuned this model on a number of areas but that's only my opinion. Anyhow, here is the video:

Im like you. I only fly Helicopters occasionally. Usually Virtavia models because they are simple to start up and operate. How difficult is it to start up the Cera Sim UH60?

All Cera models will start running though as soon as they've loaded.. they start to shutdown. Give shift+1 a stroke.. hit ready to fly and they burst into life. Don't think I've ever tried to start any of them cold and dark but I'm sure it can be done;)

Awesome. I'll probably have a go at that cera sim UH-60 then. Not that thrilled with the Virtavia model that came with P3D.

I think the 60L is their best model Eric. The shift+1 panel I mentioned also controls things like doors, engine covers, blanks, guns and gunners. The flight model isn't 'flighty' like some though it still takes a little care to land convincingly. Cera models are in sales all the time too so you shouldn't have to wait long to get one at a discount;)

The Cold & Dark Startup Flow is not overly complicated which is pretty well covered in the video. Once you get used to that flow, it goes like clockwork. I do like Devs who think to program the code to where you have the option to jump in and hit a single button to go or start from Cold & Dark. It sure helps users across a wider experience range.

Nice job on the vid. I'm very happy with Cera's version and they got most of the key systems included given FS limitations. One should be able to get her off the ground in <4mins without doing any further real world systems checks, but agree with having the option to start "two to fly". Wish Cera was around when I was first learning to start the real thing. Not perfect, but this is by far the best H-60 model for flight sim.

The HTR program on Hovercontrol will help with the flight dynamics (config by "kdfw") and I add Dirk's newer helo autopilot to all my rotary models for that virtual copilot to "take the controls".
