You could make that an L-049 just the same, Happy. Boston, Logan 1958. Serial N90816. No worries about the paint around the back. :)

I could do that one as well. I fixed the paint at the rear and added the S to Airline. Couple of other little items to fix and it will be ready to upload. Problem with a lot of these old photos is reading the registration numbers and aircraft names on the nose.

Is that all, Manfred ??.... You know you're supposed to fly it from Amsterdam via Mauritius to Jakarta,Indonesia and back on a weekly basis, don't you ?? Don't forget your sextant. :)

Absolutely! In case of N90816 here's another photo showing no sign of a name underneath the cockpit windows or at the entrance door:

Above the reg number on the vert.stab is the code number 560.

Phoenix 6, a US Navy RV7-1 Super Constellation with BuNo 131624, that was used to supply the US base on Antarctica. It flew with VX-6 and was stationed at RNZAF base Wigram, New Zealand and would fly annually to McMurdo Sound, Antactica between 1958 and 1971, when she was retired. It was scrapped in 1977.

very nice job with phoenix 6, i was looking at that one, an interesting note in her history she was occasionally tasked at flying at high alts to collect bugs between US and NZ

After some research I found the name was Star Of Geneva and it was also lettered in French below the English. That was later removed when she was shifted from international to domestic flights. Close to being on final.

Oh, believe me, "I know".:biggrin-new:

Have to do some test flying to make sure maintenance did not drop the ball before heading for Jakarta, Can't take the risk of getting stuck in no mans land without access to spare parts. And you know how hard it is to get parts for this beauty.:banghead:

And in the mean time a well known C-47 is loaded up with most common parts to supply a few maintenance hangars on the way. :wavey:
 
Is the rudder/fin fatter on the A2A than on the real plane or did they have two versions of the rudder/fin on the real one?

You were given the answer on the A2A forum,however here is a copy of that answer again.

Your pictures are both of Super Constellations, which had re-profiled tails to address issues with "Mach Tuck" that were experienced with the higher-speed wing of the aircraft.
 
And there were several tails more and FAR MORE engine cowls as well as exhaust stacks( it is most famous 3-Motor and they tried to get back to 4-motor) )
