Harleyman! Train Sim Game for yah..

Lionheart

SOH-CM-2014
Hey HarleyMan,

Just a heads up, there is a very basic game out at Wallyworld (Walmart) right now called 'Sid Meirs Railroads'. Its a small disc package, $9.95, and a bit old now.

But.. Its about trains and its been some fair fun late at night when I cant sleep.

You have to start a railroad length of track and start interlinking cities and towns and factories and farms to the cities. The difficult mode is very hard money wise (start with a limited budget and make it work), and easy mode is pure fun, making tracks and trying to integrate train circuits to run next to each other (doubling and trippling tracks inside city area's).

If you are board and have $10.00 to spend, you might like to check it out, but remember, its not 'extreme' in detail like MSTS. Its almost a kids strategy game, like a city sim if you would....

Check it out here; http://www.2kgames.com/railroads/railroads.html

I loaded it up last night, said it had a bad debugger, and to upload a new one?? lol.. I found a update at MSFS, downloaded that, it started, but I just couldnt play it. I didnt know the game was that old. When did it come out?

The cool thing on Railroads is you can really cook on setting up a huge network. Also, if you plan your tracks right, go around the mountains so your engines dont have to take so long climbing.

There are some good European scenarios. I was always a bit curious about British and French railroads.. I had a cool looking blue engine pulling my main passenger line out of Paris yesterday. I think it was a 90 MPH steam locomotive... Thats my speed! :d

I have used TRAINZ. It also comes with a editor to make your own tracks and areas.

Rail Simulator does too.. The graphics are far better in Rail Simulator, I have looked at ALL of Trainz offerings and they haven't done anything to really update the graphics engine. There are portions of the Rail Sim game that look almost picture perfect with all of the settings cranked up.

Here is part of a city I created with Rail Simulator

Very nice...I like the look of that....

I was crushed when ACES got the ax about MSTS being canned.......

But it appears these are good alternitaves ....

Thanks for the info....:applause:

I got Sid Mears Railroad today...Not installed till my rig is back and FSX is sweet again though...Thats first....LOL
