Here's the overhauled Kirov base file- textured, full hull, clean up, various and sundry improvements. Sorry 'bout the delay, Udaloys and yak packers next

I've got Him down to three texture sheets, reusing the Slava maps. When you get into MCX, just reassign the names as required, you'll see that the deck map has the guns, domes, directors ect lifted from the slava, that decking map retains the bits and bobs maps, and now carries the Kirov mapping.

Edit: this is the other reason I do lighter detail...ran it through MCX so I can do textures in FSRP, won't export, over the 68000 vertice limit- 15.8 Mb collada file!!!
I put in a zodiac (fairly HP, even with low detail) and threw some moderate detail on improved kashtan CWIS'.
Dumped the 'zode for another LP whaleboat, zipped the gun muzzle detail, xpnder domes and missile illumination radar antennae, 10 Mb collada file, 8 Mb in MDLX format, which leaves plenty of space for the rad set and hangar ani's. It's all about what the tools can do.
If you want the simplified Kashtan's, just shout, they're grouped for easy access.

That elevator is totally cool!
Latest revision SKUP file, some things fixed up, went at back faces hammer and tongs, corrections. Chopped over five Mb and 10000 vertices!
Alpha state FSX low poly Kirov from the skup file, radars animated, helipad, basic texture, specs and nights, 8.19 Mb, runs fine in the pack, not seeing any texture fcuksups or holes, just some smoothing issues. The radars are poked in as separate models fore and aft, animated; those can be merged in MCX. On to the Ud's.

Well done !!!

testing the model complete in P3D v3
In your video you make the helo approach to the Kirov look so easy. I'm sure you have better helo piloting skills than I, but do you also use a gauge or other assist to land so quickly without bouncing around behind the ship trying to maintain landing speed???

only practice, maintain a constant speed and course without sudden changes

Cheers! Hope it helps some. Having an improved base file always helps. I was surprised at amount of crap lurking in this one- assembly crap and redundant faces, and back faces. The first collada file exported at 18 MB, so it's an improvement.
Did you work out how to pick up the projected textures from the model,or if you need help with that, shout.
I also have to do another rad set for Slava, now that I've got the animation sequence sorted. One last thought; do you want a separate file for the first 3 ships- kalinin has Kashtin instead of AK 630 CIWS and that pair of deck hatches forward for the SA-N-4(I think that's what those are-bad memory)
Big goddamned boats, shame that the plant is such a...lada. CONAS! Worst of all worlds, with a soviet naval reactor. I never have found an account of Kirovs reactor accident in the Med twenty years ago. They're supposed to be modernizing the less crappy ships, though I suspect they might be past their best-by date.

I was just thinking on the hull colour. I keep seeing a lighter, slightly pale blue-grey, and a much darker grey. Lighting and film effects? Or do the Soviets run lighter and darker paint work? I've a Gunze-sangyo colour chip, 'soviet navy grey', even allowing for scale effects, it's quite light.

Would like to see some cfg files to add to the AI carriers folder i.e. ship.cfg files for these ships.

:adoration:

Arrange how you wish

Code:
[formation.x]
title=New Russian Formation
unit.0=Destroyer_UDALOY_II, 50, 0
unit.1=CRUISER_SLAVA, -50, 0
unit.2=Soviet_SLAVA(Atlant)_CG, -100, 0
unit.3=Soviet_Project_114_Orlan_NATO_KIROV,  100, 0

Looks like a steam leak. This is the Soviet_Project_114_Orlan_NATO_KIROV in P3D V3.4

Edit: The wake effect is what is spewing the water, the bow effect is okay, just the aft part.

Looks like the NSD_1134A wake isn't P3D compatible. It's in the cfg file, guess you'll have to change it for one that is P3D happy.
Looks allright in P3D otherwise? It isn't much smokier than a real soviet warship, though...and nowhere near as gonad frying:biggrin-new:

Yeah, When I click move forward, it looks like it's on fire from mid ships aft. When I stop, the fire drill is over secure from GQ :biggrin-new:
I tried tinkering with TempK=107.00 TempRate=0.01 (deleting it) with no luck. Bummer, as I like the looks of the wakes
below:

When I delete this ship in AI, the wake effect is left behind; This pic shows the effect of the wake without the ship on top of it. Looks like that bigger part of this is too high for P3D format.
When the ship is visible, the water effect is emanating from just behind the smokestack.
I circled where the bow breaks the water - that part looks to be okay.

in the photos that I seen vary quite the colors of the boat, with the textures still cause me some problem
