B-17G in development by... MicroProse!

SOH-CM-2023
The new MicroProse may be a tiny developer compared to the MP/Spectrum Holobyte of old, but they've been doing some fun stuff that appeals to folks who've been around gaming since the 80's/90's, and on top of remastering (slightly) their old B-17 game and developing a new VR B-17 sim, they've announced that they're working on a B-17G add-on for MSFS!

What an iconic name from the past.... I was flying many of the Microprose titles in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Then I started VIP Group in the latter part of that period. I wish Microprose all the best, many times I have wished I was still in the industry, but have found no way of resurrecting those halcyon days! If they can do it all over again - GO FOR IT GUYS!!!!!!

I am very much looking forward to the Flying Iron product and will sure purchase that one, but this may be interesting competition. I am interested in what their focus is (crew, visuals, systems, etc.).

I still watch the intro every now and then ;) I was still quite young, when this had it's glory days, but I have good memories.

It's good to see that they updated the model since then ;)

Who is MicroProse? 😪 Tell me you didn’t fly sims in the 80s and 90s without telling me you didn’t fly sims in the 80’s and 90’s… 😬

Also, existing topic, if the mods wanna do a merge:

Personally I'm gonna wait until both are released and reviews are in before taking my pick, I can't justify buying two B-17Gs. If one were an E or an F (or a sharktail model, but I never expect any developer to choose those as a payware product) I might get both.

I apologize for double posting. I am accused of doing what I blame others of doing! Karma will find you, no matter who you are! Hahaha!

I think a little competition is great for... us.

Man, MicroProse. I had several games - airplanes, tanks, subs, back in 88-89ish. They ran off those 5 or 6 inch floppys on my 8086 system! LOL!

School, work, family....
On the bright side, if you can handle really seriously retro graphics, that means you could play 1942: Pacific Air War, European Air War, B-17 Flying Fortress 2, F-14 Fleet Defender, F-15 Strike Eagle III, or Gunship 2000 for the very first time!

The sims are horrible primitive visually. But the missions are 3,000% more engaging than anything that's been released since the turn of the century. Gimme 1942 PAW with IL-2/DCS level graphics and I'd be in heaven.

Another title i did love : Janes Combat Simulations. I still remember that intro. US navy fighters and ATF. I remember i downloaded some 2 mb lib. for atf . I had to do that over night because of my 28k8 modem. Only to find that my virus program deleted it because it saw it as an unwanted program. Next night i had to do it all over again. ( Uninstalled anti-virus in rage) 😉
I think microprose did Falcon 4.0 though

F15 was Jane's, but agreed 👍
F18 also :)
Sweet and sweet!
Nope, F-15 Strike Eagle I, II, and III were MicroProse. Jane's F-15 was EA/Jane's. :) Falcon 4.0 was developed by Spectrum Holobyte but MicroProse bought them during the many many years it was in development.

SOOOOO many great sims in the 90's.

Then the hardcore crowd killed the combat sim genre as anything but a niche. But that's for another forum.

I started by playing Microprose F-19 Stealth Fighter on the C64 - those were the days, loved the North Cape mission. But back then, it was a different time - although basic by todays standards, your imagination filled in the blanks.
