Slightly changed the title of the thread and sticked it!

And bought it from Justflight! :jump:

I've got some social activities tonight, but I know what I'll be flying tomorrow!

Works in FS2024 for those interested. With the exception that it seems resource heavy as you attempt to land and get to ground. My fps dropped down to 10 and stuttered like crazy. Up n the air, no issue.

We all have things we care about, and that's definitely our prerogative. :)

But after AH has spent years on this and with all of the amazing detail it has and the positive reports on how it flies, this feels like finally getting that date with Marilyn Monroe and then noticing that mole on her cheek and not really being sure if you want to go out with her. :)

Excited to pick it up after work! Bummed I won't have time to really fly it until Thursday.
 
Cockpit brilliant in VR, sounds great, just one flight so far, flew very nicely, feels right.
Biggest problem was I couldn't see properly to taxi after landing, eyes seem to be running...
 
Well, I succumbed and bought my first AH product in many years. First impressions are very good, just from doing a couple of circuits at Edwards KEDW. The external textures are underwhelming, and a couple of glitches showed up - the undercarriage indicator lights don't work, and there are three rivet heads hanging in midair when you disable the yoke - just need quick fixes, no doubt. However, it really 'felt' like a Lancaster, and the amount of work AH must have put into it is astonishing - no wonder it took them so long. Defintely the best AH add-on I've ever bought; if you like the Lanc, you'll like this one.

You need to turn power on to the gear indicator lights. Switch is beside the main battery switch.

Ah, thank you very much for that. The only flight I've done so far started with engines running on the runway, so that's something I overlooked. Thanks again!
 
Hoping AH releases a paint kit and someone does a bare metal Lancaster MR10 in RCAF post-war colors...THEN I'll buy it.
 
well she certainly looks the part - how are the frame rates? If past is prologue I'll bet they're pretty good.
Baz and company are much better at what they do than they are given credit for in my own humble opinion.

My system is pretty low end ( RTX 3050, Ryzen 5, 16 GB ram ) and it seems ok for me. Mind you, I don't have general graphics settings very high, most is on "medium" in 2020.
 
yeah asking about frame rates given the various caliber of the rigs that exist is highly subjective - but as a general rule the replies when there are a handful of them do tell a story.
I'm running Intel I7 with 32GB ram, and an Nvidia 2080 super and mostly mid to high settings with all of the tricks in scaling and DL (AI assists) activated and get decent FPS in most situations.
For myself I'll take a few less than optimum textures and features as long as I get smooth FPS. To me anyway the framerates and smoothness outweigh hyper detail. Looks right, flies right, no slideshow.
 
Frame rates are solid for me in FS2024, but I'm using a 4090, so I have a stupid video card. :)

Question for the Lancaster experts: Given how often missions were flown at night, how did they see the instruments? Flashlight? Can’t find instrument lighing controls in the manual or the panels.

if there are cockpit instrument lights the switches must not be on the panel, they are absent from this video -->
Possible there is a side panel or overhead panel switch - or it is possible if unlikely the pilots carried small torches - or that the needles and dials had some iridium paint on them, though that would be apparent in the video if it were the case.
 
Denny A - did you check the two small fixtures at the top of the panel in your third screenshot? they look like cylindrical red lensed light fixtures with a rotating switch on the end - try clicking on the ends of them yet?

Found the controls! If they're in the manual, they didn't show up on a text search for lights. :)

The good news is they work. The bad news is that they are blindingly bright, even at 5%.

However, I'm still in training, so happy to fly in daylight for now. Hopefully that'll get toned down (might be the effect being brighter in 2024?) in an update.

Thanks, Baz! Haven't run into anything other than the nightlights, and all the engines starting at once iwth Ctrl-E, so far. Really been solid under 2024 and a lot of fun to fly! (Rocking a 4090, so no performance issues.)
