Thanks. I am looking for something that covers the whole world, with the most up to date schedules. So a mix of GA, Airlines, and military AI. Perhaps I am asking too much for a legacy sim, and should invest time in making my own AI. But I still would like some links to AI schedules, models, etc...Depending on what you're looking for (airliners, military, GA, etc.) your best bet (IMO) is to download Traffic Tools and build your own.
For modern military traffic, there are some nice traffic files in the Carriers2006 scenery package that usually don't work because they rely on some Alphasim AI aircraft that are no longer available. As it turns out, this isn't a big deal. You just need to use Traffic Tools to de-compile the traffic BGLs then edit the generated AIRCRAFT text file to use the AI you want, then just re-compile the new BGL file.
Traffic really isn't that complicated, we just make it that way.
You may also want to check out Military AI Works (MAIW) if you're looking for self-installing scenery and traffic. MAIW can be a little daunting, they made a LOT of traffic and scenery mods and its easy to get lost. Its better to use The Owl's Nest https://www.owlsnest.eu/maiw.php to find the MAIW files you want.
Just some quick "IMO" stuff I've picked up-
- Its better to run 100 small traffic BGLs than to run one massive BGL, unless you're running FS2002.
- Traffic is VERY dependent on which sim you're running. Don't try to load FS2002 or FSX traffic into FS9 (and vice versa) unless you want to spend a week or two trying to fix the issues.
- Give us a better idea of what you're looking for. Right now, its like I posted "I want a car" with no other info.![]()
Thanks!there is also this: Aerosoft MyTraffic 2006 by B. Renk for FS2004, freeware and available at this link: https://secure.simmarket.com/aerosoft-online-mytraffic-2013.phtml (scroll down; link found under the additional downloads section) reading the manual is a must!![]()
had it installed on a test rig before it went belly up, and while I do not necessarily dispute your remarks, Bernard, you'd have to remember that Aerosoft/Renk were catering to a whole gamut of systems (presumably for a wider market share) from back in the day - 2005/6 era and prior and of course knowing that optimized low poly / low res models also contribute to reduced system overhead -> translation: even a dated system from that time would be able to handle said MyTraffic AI package, while ensuring an overall smooth sim experience. And indeed systems/technologies/processing powers have dramatically improved since that time, for what is taken for granted today, even on laptops with integrated graphics, was not necessarily economically feasible, perhaps not even available for most, on a home budget desktop PC!Really? Are you sure wolfebee89? I guess you haven't installed it. Otherwise you would certainly agree, that My2006 models are absolutely awful. If you want to see pictures here, let me know.
