Spartan Executive Six Years Later

Yes, I did all of that. I know where the problem is but couldn't fix it in Gmax. Probably because I really don't know what I am doing. Milton Shupe sent me his original gmax file for it. You need Gmax to open it. I can pack up and send you my gmax with the fstools for fsx installed if you think you could do it with that. Let me know what you want to do. I took my wife to the orthopedic doctor and we just got home or I would have answered you sooner.

I have GMAX and it's bigger brother but not installed on this box at the moment and I'm not even sure if GMAX will run on Win 10 without having to jump through hoops. I had to dump GMAX in the later stages of the Navion B project because I hit the hard barrier in terms of poly count and texture vertex count and every export attempt failed. At this point I am not able to model but if anyone with more knowledge of MCX knows how to map polys to a texture sheet they may be able to help.

Looking at the model in the sim again it would appear that the gauge planer that has your throttle/prop pitch gauge on it extends behind the un-textured pedestal polys and as you are not using those polys at all you MAY be able to deleted them in MCX using the model hierarchy tool and then your problem will literally disappear. Again I am not skilled enough in MCX to do that but it may be possible to isolate those polys and delete them and then re-export the model.

It is not possible to delete those rectangular parts attached to the panel in the model; they are all one part or I would have already done it. That is why I installed Gmax with the FSTools in the Gamepack in Gmax. I actually was able to slice them and remove them according to what Tom Gibson told me. It looked like the panel plane was still there but when I export it with the FSTools to my desktop, it doesn't work. I opened up the Gmax that Milt sent me but it is the whole aircraft and I don't know what to do with it. It's time for dinner and then Wednesday evening church service so can we take up this tomorrow? Maybe when we get it into a Gmax, we can hookup on Discord so we don't have to have delays with this. OK?

Not sure which original model you are using but I show the VCConsole is textured by $blacktexture, assigned and mapped.
The FSX mdl names are Spartan7W.mdl and Spartan7W_interior.mdl.
The export dates were 2/10/2018.
Maybe an earlier model did not have that mapped or maybe is was an FS9 mdl converted.

BTW, I can use gmax fine in Win10.

I seem to be able to use Gmax in Windows 10 too. I will check and see if I can find that 2018 model folder and try again to export the interior as a 3ds and go back and follow Tom Gibson's instructions. Thank you for continuing to look at it and comment.

Tako Kichi's PBR Spartan has models that he updated in 2017. Every other model that I have is 2008. Do you have the 2018 model folder that you can zip and attach here for me to try?

I made up a Spartan Folder with Larry's (Tako Kichi) model.vc and the yoke click works and I think if he knows how to remove the throttle quadrant and that black rectangle which is obscuring MY panel this may actually work. I tried the model.vc-PBR but because my textures are NOT PBR I got a black model which I know means that the textures were not recognized. If you can do that Larry in Model Converter X and send me an updated interior model, I would be so grateful and try it for everybody who wants the Jim Savage PanelScreenshot (155).png

I tried editing the panel in MDCx and the same thing happens that happens in the old model and that even though this model is pieced in two parts, they both have to be deleted and the same result it still loses my panel with nothing to attach to. So I am going to leave it as it is and it can be used with that piece in the way. I am just too frustrated and tired of spending the time and effort with no results to show for it. It's time to move on.
